I am involved here to built a serios project at the long term, really
focused in a fair economy, fair trade and useful tools for the real world.

The cryptoworld is satured of copycat coins,  competing for the last features,
but in the real world most of the people dont know really
what this cryptocurrency can be useful for. We are working for a real, useful currency for these people,
and this goal needs time.

anyway the pending new wallet release is coming soon.  Wink

Can one skilled dev update the wallet with the latest openssl?
I will dedicate my time to it tonight - I'll try to team up with Thokon00.
I'm a skilled Java Dev, so that kinda clashes with how this wallet is set up.
The whole Qt buildprocess and library management is just nasty imho. Your OS needs to be part of the build environment. That's so 1900'ish.

Still work in progress...
- Found out how to build faircoind on Ubuntu
- Started to follow guide on how to build on windows
- Installed a trunk load of crap on my pc
- Updated logo's
- Updated SSL
- Added db.h script from Novacoin repo
- Found contribs for Windows
- Barfed a bit after looking at all the steps required to make a build
- Started a build and found out it takes very long
- Cancelled it, calling it a night, will continue tomorrow  Smiley
...
- Dreaming of a nice, sexy Java API to wrap around this stenchy wallet lol

Testing the new Windows wallet right now - transferred funds between wallets, checked the logo's, looks very good :-)

Me and empidavies will be splitting the giveaway into multiple batches. Also I'm unable to relate the votes to addresses, so I'll be using the same conditions as empidavies.
This morning I've payed out the first 20 addresses, each 50 FAC. This evening empidavies will do his part - 100 FAC per address.

There are still 30 slots open - so don't stay out: http://forum.fair-coin.org/index.php?topic=23.0

just a question for understanding. If you hold your FAC in your Mintpal account, does the 6% annual interest goes to Mintpal and do they sell directly? In this case I can understand why it still seems like that somebody is still selling so low.

- The annual interest goes directly to MintPal - however coins need a cool down time before the minting process starts, MintPal makes use of a lot of wallet addresses so they'd have to implement a high level of coin control for coins to keep staking. I don't assume that they'll spend resources on that for PoS coins (yet). Coins like ZeitCoin and MintCoin are way more interesting for that.
- Interest is only 6% yearly.  Right now there's 50,018,932 FAC. So we're talking about 19.000 FAC minted so far. That's not enough to ruin the market.

To my opinion it's just that we (including the dev team) aren't making enough noise yet. So how do we do that?

And further more; if we make enough noise, what'll happen to the coin? Do we really want to get pumped & dumped?

Are you sure that there are just 50,018,932 coins out there? For me 6% of 50,000,000 means 3,000,000 FAC per year/365= 8,219 per day

Fortunately I'm using a Linux distro with a patched version of OpenSSL. All i had to do was to recompile the wallet from source with libcrypto and libssl as dynamic libraries.
The crazy DEV(s) here decided the logo competition was more important than bonifying the wallet.

what?

as evident, the choice of logo not took time who are working in the wallet development.
Just are two things that goes by parallel ways  Wink

Otherwise i want to remember you that the neu dev team was a group of volunteers of this community;
and if anyone has the hability and time to develop fastest wallets, the door is open to be involved  Smiley

from my understanding that is if 100% of FAC holder mint FAC by let the wallet run 24/7 for 1 year, and i don't believe all FAC holder is minting 24/7.
for me, i only got about 2K FAC from minting so far with a wallet opened 50% at all time from day 21 till now.
do you run your wallet to mint pupukaka?  Cheesy
