So i order a few 5850s from bens outlet (OEM) built a new win764 box with 11.12 and SDK2.6. using cgminer i set the following

Engine 900
Mem 300
volts (default)
And my results were locking and freezing right after i launched cgminer. so i dropped the engine to 840 and now my mhs is 300. I switched to SDK 2.4 and the 11.6 driver package and get the same results. This feels a bit low for a 5850.

my current hardware config is

890fxa gd70
1 gb mem
sempron 140
500 watt psu

any thoughts?

Mine doesnt lock and crash @ 940-950 (depends on the cards) / 300, with standard (1.088V) voltage (it's a sapphire extreme non-ref)
What brand is it? Reference or non-ref?

its an OEM Reference. I also have a visiontek reference running at 920/500 on another box doing 370 on 11.6 and 2.4 sdk. it seems really low to me

So i solved my issue. I completed the steps in the following order

1. deleted the partition
2. installed win7
3. installed ati 11.11 drivers pack
4. installed SDK 2.5
5. installed drivers for the rest of the missing hardware
6. configure CGminer as followed
Engine 920
mem 500
volts (removed line from json)
default the rest
fan 45%
temp 65 -70c

Now i'm getting 370 stable with one card so i'm guessing that it must have been some left overs from the SDK2.6/11.12 driver package.

370 from one card??? doesnt it take like 1000mhz core to get 325m/hash ??

my 5830s clocked at 942 only get 290m/hash but ive been to lazy to get SDK 2.1
