The second beta group (B) is only open to early crowdfunders, as stated in the early access terms here: http://storj.io/earlyaccess.html#testgroupsSo unless you participated in the crowdsale, you will have to be patient and wait for Group C, in which case you would also need to acquire at least 10,000 SJCX. This rule is still subject to change, though, as we get closer to the time when Group C gets started, this may be adjusted.

It can definitely be profitable. The actual "product" Storj is offering is rock-solid. And I, for one, will definitely use it. My only concern is whether the public actually cares enough to be smart about their security. A lot of times, success is about who gets to market first. And with people heavily invested (space-wise) in things like Dropbox, laziness about moving could outweigh the protection they'd get from moving to Storj.
as i've said before, as long as the word gets about Storj, and as long as Storj itself is easy and accesible for the customer, we're going to see a quite a few people switching from other centralized storage systems to Storj.

I'am very confident there will be a lot of development done in 2015 Storj will take profit from, although there is a official version ready to become realesed or not.

I am confident they're going to make it in 2015, official does not need to mean stable

Has to be cheaper, or it doesn't make sense. Market will decide.

People will switch for various reasons. Cost is only one factor. In hindsight someone like Sony would probably love to use Storj even if its more expensive per GB. Cost of a data breach does incalculable damage to a business.

In the current beta test you'll win some valuable data for the Storj project to make it better once it's further in development. I later beta tests you will be able to earn SJCX. Depending on which stage of the beta you want to participate in, you must have contributed to the crowd sale, though. More details at http://storj.io/earlyaccess.html

Only when beta group C is about to start, it will be determined who can participate, and that is those people who can prove they own 10,000 SJCX. So the best thing you can do to prepare yourself, is get some SJCX. You can do so at Counterwallet's decentralized exchange or at Poloniex, to name a couple. Poloniex is probably where the most volume is.

It seems that the designer fully understands "keep it simple, stupid". I just hope it will be combined with options to have a higher level of control for power users, as is most often the case for open source software. And if I'm not mistaken, it will, through the text based version, which is great. Edit: Oh, you meant the GUI of MetaDisk, of course. I don't think there will be a command line version of MetaDisk, but that's probably not necessary either.

I love the fact that metadesk is the world's first blockchain based decentralized file sharing application. Can check it here http://node1.metadisk.org/

Can check it here http://node1.metadisk.org/ What I'm really waiting for, when it comes to applications of the Storj network, is a Dropbox/Copy/etc. like application that will live sync your files directly to the network from your desktop or mobile. I.e. a native app, not website.
