which would be your recommended exchange?

also, have people been safely transacting directly?  that's something else i'd consider if there are some references etc.

thanks again.

Well if it weren't for the withdrawal fee I'd be fine with BTER, but I have done business with both poloniex and mintpal.  Smooth and easy in both cases.

I forgot... BTER is currently awarding a 1% deposit bonus.  This effectively removes the withdrawal fee, but only when you DEPOSIT XMR first.

There were many Monero private trades before it was listed on the exchange. If you check the old OTC trading thread you can find the names of people who traded a lot and may be trustworthy. Obviously check their feedback and even then be cautious as accounts can be hacked or sold.

Now would be a good time to throw up some buy walls- even if at low levels - to show some support for YOUR coin and keep things positive in the mind of average joe investors! Let's keep the price stable as possible!

I seriously doubt you will see it dump further.  Miners are losing money at this point.

What do you think about VRC? It had 1 week PoW launch before becoming PoS.

I don´t know much more about fundamentals, only that have been almost non stop growing in value since then. Well, now is probably overbough, but what do you think of it?, could be a decent #3? A PoS with a PoW distribution sounds like a good idea, and different from the 99% other alts.

I would prefer a longer PoW init phase, thought

Feel free to introduce another alternative coin into the discussion. If you look hard there aren't many that hold any weight.

I am interested in Ethereum too.

One week proof of work, the distribution is as bad as Bytecoin.

Things don't work that way.  You buy the coin because it offers value.  If you waste your energy on a futile manipulation, you have no power when it could make a difference.

Instead buy because it is crazy cheap.

Me, I hit my limit for the week with a buy at 0035.  Next week I may want more.

i was surprised to see my 0035 order filled overnight, feeling good waking up with 1000 more XMR Smiley

PoS is always a disqualifier in my mind, because it can be attacked with zero cost.

VRC is presently distinguished primarily by the payments website.  Such a website can and should be made for every coin.  I don't think it will distinguish VRC for very long.

The question was asked about VeriSend, so I looked into it.  It is just coinjoin.  Coinjoin is defeasible.  See "Coinjoin Sudoku".

We are both lucky, it seems.  Well, I was watching it like a hawk, so you're luckier.

This is my problem with XMR. I always feel like i NEED to watch the price like a Hawk in order to protect my investment because inflation is so high. I feel I HAVE TO use the volatility of the price in order to increase my stack so XMR can be a good store of value.

I dont need to do this with bitcoin. I dont care about the short term price because it's such a good store of value.

I must be too heavily invested in XMR and this decrease my productivity.

This is my problem with XMR...........

With the GUI Wallet , more miners (higher diff + lower reward) and new investors this usually levels out the inflation problem imo .

Keep in mind that the XMR emission rate is rapidly and constantly decreasing.  This makes it a better store of value.  The current high emission rate means that these coins are easier, cheaper to acquire than future coins will be.  The rapid decline means that you will realize these benefits quickly.
