Those interested in mining I0coin may want to try this pool. https://mergemining.comI like the hash rate we have on I0coin. It's been very respectable since the last part of 2016. I suspect this pool is providing much of that hash power. I'll check it out.

Price and hash rate moving up on I0coin!
Where are you seeing the price rise? I don't see any price rise either but the hash is up a lot at 4PH. From Mar 11th through 20th the low was .00000556-.00000557 on Cryptopia. Then on Apr 2 I0C made a high of .00000730. That's a 30% rise. I think the bottom is in place.

Many people are getting spooked about Bitcoin out of fear of a fork. They are moving into other cryptos. I0coin may not be their first choice, but it is a choice for some. That's all we need for some upward movement.

ValueShuffle I've been thinking about the next I0coin update, and how we can make it stand out in the crowd. I want to run an idea past the community to see what everyone thinks. Privacy appears to be a growing concern among crypto users. Many of the top coins have enhanced anonymity over Bitcoin. With this in mind, my idea is to add 'ValueShuffle' to I0coin. This is an improvement on the CoinJoin implementation that DASH uses. ValueShuffle anonymizes the sender, receiver and the amount of the transaction without a third party mixer. As far as I know no other crypto has a full implementation of ValueShuffle yet. So this would give us a chance to be the first. An advantage that ValueShuffle has over CryptoNote (Monero, Bytecoin) is that we can still use blockchain pruning to keep the block chain manageable in size for most users. From reading about it, we need to get SegWit and Confidential Transactions working first. We can get SegWit by simply upgrading to the next Bitcoin update, expected out no later than Sep-2017. Then Confidential Transactions may need to be added on our own. This means we may be able to beat even Bitcoin to the punch. Below are a couple of links for you to read. Let me know what everyone thinks. https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/valueshuffle-brings-together-the-best-of-both-worlds-for-privacy-1483557170/https://www.deepdotweb.com/2017/01/26/valueshuffle-comprehensive-transaction-privacy-bitcoin-users/

I agree. A couple of things I want to stay clear of are reducing miner fees and the addition of servers (vulnerable to attack or compromise). We need to keep it decentralized. The DASH masternodes are not servers per se, but they reduce miner fees by about half. With I0coin almost mined out, we need to find a new source of income to keep miners interested. ValueShuffle will increase transactions, and hopefully our user base as well because it will increase privacy and anonymity.

I think the majority of merge mining is done via p2pool. There is a segwit patch (at the least for the scrypt/litecoin portion, not sure about the sha256d side of it) that is being tested/implemented afaik from reading the p2pool ann as litecoin has segwit enabled now.

We have a few months before segwit comes out, so we have some time to get a p2pool update going. Who needs to develop this update for sha256? Who do we talk to?

Something needs to happen to spark some life into this coin again - topia is stagnant. I'm keen to wait a bit longer to see which way Bitcoin and P2Pool go with their updates. Bitcoin is waiting for miners to accept SegWit, which still is not activated. August 1st is an important date for this, but even then it will take more time to fully activate. (Bitcoin 0.14.0 and later has SegWit support, once activated.) P2Pool is currently split with miners using two clients. Most miners are using the new client (jtoomim branch) which is not compatible with the alt coins. Neither is compatible with SegWit. So we need to see the two clients merged, plus the alt coins and SegWit supported, which could happen soon if Bitcoin miners activate SegWit. More info here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=18313.msg19380329#msg19380329 Depending on which way these go will affect our next move for I0coin.
