The biggest thing is anonymity. If silk road or whatever is running these days adopts Darkcoin, it will take over litecoin.
Alts are driven by demand, dogecoin proved that. It's all about what is in demand. A silk road type marketplace will seriously drive demand up, which is what's critical.

However there are lots of new players in town. A lot of the drk shills seem very unhappy with XC coin. It seems it will be better than drk coin and perhaps completed sooner. That's the problem there will be many anon coins. Drk will be nothing special in a couple of weeks time...wait and see. LTC will always be thought of as the silver to btc gold. |

Except for the fact that DRK has been steadily increasing for around 2 months and each time there's a 'pump' the new price floor is higher than that of the previous price floor. I dont know why people cant accept that DRK is THE next big coin. I've said it before and I'll say it again, DRK will be where LTC is now by the end of the year (in terms of market cap) as it's already overtaken LTCs price. If i'm wrong, the first person to bring up this thread will get 1 free DRK.... |

there is no reason why dark is worth what it is, it dosnt have features to make it worth more than any other coin
im not a dark troll i like dark, i respect it was the first x11 and still mine it.
problem is for it to get big the sheep need a reason to use the coin, the sheep dont care about anonymity, if they did they wouldnt be using facebook and social media, so unless your a drug dealer or need to hide your transactions for a bad reason it has no use you may aswell use ltc or doge.

Here's some speculatin'.
In order to know the potential for DRK to continue to rise, I'd compare it to the historical giant runs of the major coins like BTC, LTC and DOGE.
DRK is currently up ~500% in 20 days. I haven't thoroughly done the research prior but I am wondering what other coins have sustained these kind of gains and for how long.
Even if we are still in the beginning phases of recognition for DRK and the money doesn't flood out into the rising price of bitcoin, I would not be surprised to see some profit taking happen.
The one thing though, every time the price tests the "new floor" as was pointed out earlier, it springs back up into place.
If you look at the "long-term" chart of DRK on Poloniex its absolutely beautiful and it makes it look like we're about to surge another 100%.
It goes without saying that the real future of DRK depends on mass adoption and utilization, which will be required to support these price levels.

r.o.t.f.w.l. Actually, it's about ALL they care about when it comes to money. You really think that commercial companies, banks, investment groups, paycheque recipients or ordinary guy in the street are fine with the idea that the general public are 1 address away from knowing ever goddam piece of income they ever received and each bit of expenditure they ever made ? When I first discovered DRK, I valued it at around the Litecoin price at least. All it's doing is gravitating towards that stable value. It's one of the few coins I didn't buy with the intention of dumping at the end of the pump. The fact that other similar technologies are coming on the scene won't do jack to its price because its acquired a leadership position in this sector which the market has acknowledged exists. Clones never get anywhere near the original in terms of price in any of these algo wars. |
