clipse: if you do not hop, than your release time was really bad for people not to think you hop... you should know and aknowledge that and you could have posted it differently like "PPS no fee with bonus"... not "115%PPS" like goat. If you want to be different and not associated than BE different. Also be open and post pool URL.

Ill give you benefit of the doubt of not understanding the concept of Private - Beta. I dont want to publicly post the pool details since I have one main concern, getting DDOS'd before I am even properly isnt the same as fun in my dictionary.

My worst failure that I am guilty of is naming it 115% PPS, it was meant to look more attractive than the competition(goat) at that time so I simply went with it. I will need to change the wording of the title it seems.

Also our "proxy" (the hopping program) was not centralized on one or two server. No, everyone runs his own.

Except for this instance of it.

I'm not for decentralizing hopping, I'm for decentralizing mining. I hope one day Project #2 can not exist because there are no longer centralized pools.

...and in  the mean time I'll make as much as I can off the son of a bitch uninformed miners that don't have a clue...

If that is the motivation,  send ALL hopping profits to P2P bonuses

hopping=mining... decentralized mining includes ....
Hey organofcorti, full ack to btcproxy.net but i doubt a lot of people use that site and never was agressively marketed.

This.
If i were to have any trust in these guys, id gladly offer 3GH for hopping at 100% PPS if the profits went to P2Pool bonusses.

Your total hopping income sounds like a fair price for such software to fight hopping as you said.

HOW TO Peer 2 Peer/decentralize mining with no new Software level 1:

sign in with every pool there is. add account to cgminer, round robin the shares between pools/peer, make solo mining  as a failover. Voila: decentralized hopping and no need even for new software Wink "all this wanna be decentralized all of a sudden" Smiley

Of course that solves almost nothing (other than protection against the pools being down).
If 2 or 3 pools that have >50% combined decide to collude to launch a double spend attack in your scenario, thats still entirely possible.

P4man: if everyone would trickle shares equally to every pool, you would need more pool ops than 2 or three.

Do not judge me wrong. I also like the idea of p2p-pool and other collaboration force. But in the end there are only 24*6 winning shares on average on a day. It screams for some kind of centralisation ahem, no better a finite (block finding) number of collaboration teams/pools/solominers.

I read about p2ppool, AFAI can remember it is essentially opening up a mining blockchain with lower difficulty, so more "pseudo" easy winning shares are found, and the real good shares are also passed on to bitcoind. (a bit more) (hope there is no loophole, people will abuse...as there might be)

Seems a legit solution. But as in alternative energies I see a mix needed. Not everyone needs to mine "p2p"pool. But it surely would not hurt at all it having a quarter of the mining force or maybe more.

Also like long time ago predicted: Mining seems to become more and more a specialised business...

Also this big 51% attack...all entities having active control of this (slush, tycho, eleuthria) right now are what i would say true supporters. More of a problem is a entity wanting to destroy BTC in general. An entity coming from an external source with unlimited "real life coins" that builds a huge anti blockchain farm.

I would say in general: more constant hashes per second needed from people who want support bitcoin. This hashes have to hash: it does not matter that much where (maybe people should not start mining on the big three). It really matters that they hash.

So everyone move to washington state/canada/greenland/norway/southern russia/wehretheelectronsflow cheap and build more gpu farms. Or go FPGA..... BUT HASSSSSSSH MOA MOA MOA MOA HASH HASH... everyone...ahshahshahshahsha Wink

anyone have free beer or silk road coupons Wink anyone actually thought about making a mining gpu popcorn machine?

nothing really has come of this... p2pool us awesome and is slowly growing but we need a second option. i have btc if i can get someone to make it... maybe even give the coder .5% for a few months or something as a bonus...
Why don't you talk directly with forrestv? He might be amenable to creating a second p2pool, and/or acting on some of the ideas in the p2pool thread about ways to spin off alternate or sub p2pools.
