Now, I'm a member and I have over 100+ posts, the time I've spent on this board is like an hour and some change but I know it's been longer. I usually even have this tab open to the main index of the board, so I know I'm spending a longer time than that on this board. How does the activity and the ranks work out in that way? Does the time have to equal the amount of time I've posted? I know there's a simple equation but to me it doesn't make sense since I've been signed in almost constantly for the past couple days, I surely should have way more time logged in then this.
Can I get some help here?

The time logged in is active browsing time and activity is based on how many two week periods youve posted in. If you dont make a post in those periods you dont get the 14 points for them.

I dont think time logged in is related to activity, but the system is very confusing.

Ok thank you, so it's over a 2 week period? I'm just curious because I know I've been logged in a lot longer but then again I just rediscovered this board after lurking for a couple years. I've had this account since 2011 but haven't posted that regularly.

The total time logged in and your activity in the forum are completely unrelated, and btw I doubt that the time script works well, I have 12 days but I lurked months...

That thread pretty much explains it. Your activity increases by 14 every two weeks if you post 14 more than your current activity in that time period.

dont think time logged in has anything to do with it. it is posting once every 14 days that adds activity (up to your post count)

All the main ranks that can be handed out to normal users are: Brand New, Newbie, Jr. Member, Member, Full Member, Sr. Member, and Hero Member. In addition to the main rankings, there are also sub-rankings that can be applied, and those are: SCAMMER, Donator, and VIP. Finally, staff sub-rankings are as follows: Staff, Moderator, Global Moderator, Administrator, and Founder. Rank | Description | Tag | Brand New: | 0 posts, gets 1 gold coin under his name. | | Newbie: | (none), gets 1 gold coin under his name. | | Jr. Member: | 1 post written over 4 hours ago, gets 1 gold coins under his name. | | Member: | Activity: 15, gets 2 gold coins under his name. | | Full Member: | Activity: 60, gets 3 gold coins under his name. | | Sr. Member: | Activity: 200, gets 4 gold coins under his name. | | Hero Member: | Activity: 400, gets 5 gold coins under his name.
| | Sub-Rank | Description | Tag | SCAMMER: | Manually applied by administration, regardless of post count and gets 5 red Xs under his name. | | Donator: | Manually applied by administration after 10 BTC donation, and gets 5 gold coins under his name of which the last is half green. 5 coins are shown regardless of post count when user is a Donator. | | VIP: | Manually applied by administration after 50 BTC donation, and gets 5 gold coins under his name of which the last is half purple. 5 coins are shown regardless of post count when user is a VIP.
| | | | Staff Rank | Description | Tag | Staff: | Shown when moderators (see next point) post outside of the sections that they moderate. Always shows 5 gold coins. | | Moderator: | Shown when moderators of specific sections post within those sections. Gets 5 gold coins, of which the last is shown as half faded-out green. | | Global Moderator: | Applied to Staff that have moderation privileges in all boards. Gets 5 gold coins, of which the last is half teal colored. | | Administrator: | Has all available permissions and can appoint moderators and perform other administrative tasks. Gets 5 gold coins, of which the last is shown half red regardless of post count. | | Founder: | Reserved for Satoshi, gets 5 platinum coins under his name. | | The way activity is calculated:The activity number is determined in this way: time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration activity = min(time * 14, posts)
Activity is updated every 30 minutes.
To become a Donator or a VIP, send a PM to theymos to get a unique donation address.Took the liberty to update it according to the new Activity & new member limits/groups.Edited with proper number of coins.

the key is to make sure to post every so often. lurking will never get you higher activity.

I woulda thunk you were old enough to be confident that technology DOES improve. In fits and starts, but over the long term it definitely gets better.

Gotcha, I really appreciate all the responses. I think this is the only thing about the board that confuses me. But now it seems a little clearer.

this quote maybe help you he explained very detail I've posted this in so many threads now... So, basically, the formula for the activity value is this: time = number of 2 week periods in which you posted activity = min(time*14, posts)
So, lets break this down. time = number of 2 week periods in which you posted This basically means what it says. If you've been registered for one week, then this will be 1. If you've been registered for three weeks and posted on the first day of registration and again today, then it will be 2. If you've been registered for one year (lets say you registered on the 1st January 2013 and today is the 1st January 2014), and you only posted on the 1st January, 10th January, 23rd March, 15 April, 18 April and the 23rd December, your time value would be 4, because you posted for 4 two-week periods. activity = min(time*14, posts) This basically says that your activity value is the smaller value of your time value multiplied by 14, and your post count. So, if your time value is 2, then your time*14 value would be 28. If your post count was 30, your activity value would be 28. If your post count was 20, your activity value would be 20. I hope this explains it to some people Liam

Yeah, I figured it out, I've only been logged in technically 2 days and a couple hours so I probably won't see another rank for a while. But at any rate thanks for all the help and advice guys!

once you hit activity level 120, which is like what, 3 update periods (6 weeks maximum), you'll reach full member status.

Tip: you can enable post count in settings, it can be a bit more useful than the activity counter

SIMPLY PUT: If you make 14 posts every 2 weeks youll get an additional activity of 14 in that timeframe. Time logged in has no impact. Hope that helped
