Was anyone else actually given free mining contracts?  I understand there was a contest to win, but aside from the contest, were other contracts given out?  If yes, then those others certainly are not upholding their end of things.

Depends on what pool MT is actually pointing it's hashing to.  The larger pools would have less variance, and the payouts would be more consistent.  That's actually a good question - and maybe one that has been answered elsewhere.  Do we know on which pool MT's cloud hashing is pointed to?  Is it one of the public ones like GHash, or their own private pool?
