If I understand correctly, after the hack they said they would no longer hold user coins themselves in escrow. Did that change? |

Does it really matter now? As long as they repaid back users money... And the compensation is legit seen some posts on reddit confirming that they have gotten their coins. |

You should keep note that it's a different case. I'm pretty sure people didn't use silkroad as a wallet service to store their coins. Dark web sites are not known for their stability, it would be unwise to hold large amounts of coins in there. If the "stolen" coins were fewer than the ones in MtGox it sounds perfectly logical to me that they were able to refound part of the losses.

The thing is it's possible for someone like Karpeles to pull something like "forgetting" all the private keys, claim bankruptcy, and then walk away scot free legally. But in this case their whole business rests on trust and I guess if they want to be successful they have to prove that trust somehow. |

Just because he is shady? Not to nitpick but I really do think they are doing a service. I think we can all agree the war on drugs is a failure and is an excuse for governments all over the world to take some of our freedom. Just because I don't agree with something doesn't mean I think the person doing it is bad. And in this case I suppose i am proved correct as silkroad has paid back most of the funds and anticipate fully paying off in another month or so.
