the faucets are only worth if you got like 50 - 200 active refs or more

when you click on your own they arent worth anything

You shouldn't work on the faucet, but you need to tell everybody the faucet is great and ask them to register using your ref link.
How ironic is that lol Cheesy

hahaha yeah Smiley))

but for some people the faucet is worth if they hit a big jackpot of around 0.3 or 0.03 btc:)

Wouldn't that be like hoping a $1000 falls into your lap?  It must be insanely unlikely a faucet would ever pay out more than $5.

on average a faucet will payout something less each time you visit then what the advertisers are paying them for having their ads on their site. The impressions that faucets are generating so generally low quality so the ads will likely pay faucet owners little

winning the jackpot on freebitco is much less likely then 1%, it is closer to 1 in 10,000

The chance is indeed just 0.005% (1 in 20000). Cheesy

I am sorry, it should be "rounded off" and not "rounded up". I shall correct this on the website. So any number below 0.5 will be rounded down to 0.

hmmm so that probability to get "10000" should be just 0.005%. Tongue

Yes, because that is what is feasible to pay out. You gotta remember though that there is no other faucet or free bitcoin websites (that I know of) which gives you the chance to even win that much and that too using a provably fair system.

Exactly. The faucet sites don't give you money from their own pockets, but from ad revenue.  Smiley

so it means 0.01% Sad
only very very lucky guy can make it
and his referrals earn $100 too (since it's 50% referrals bonus)

hmmm so that probability to get "10000" should be just 0.005%. Tongue
not 0.01 %?

Check https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=319540.msg7595577#msg7595577.
The owner (wetsuit) confirmed that the chance is 1/20000.

oh sorry, i didn't read it before
thanks for pointing out. and 0.005% make it harder to get Sad
but 6 people win luckybit biggest prize (with 0.00304% chance), lesser than freebitco chance Grin
hope we see luckybit jackpot claim by lucky guy

The jackpot is just there as an incentive. If there was any chance that people would win it it would cost the owner too much to be profitable.

AFAIK, the number is generated with Sha512 and is provably fair.
And the chance does exist, though it is very very small at 0.005%. Cheesy

Sorry, I meant if there was any chance that wasn't microscopic that someone would win, it wouldn't be there. I'm absolutely sure that there IS a chance to win, however it's just so ridiculously low that the owner never has to worry about it.

I think a random number (including decimals) is generated which is then rounded. So you can roll any number between 0.00 and 10,000.00. In order to roll a 10,000, you will need to roll between 9,999.5 and 10,000 - hence there is only a 0.005 percent chance of this happening. However, in order to roll a 9,999 (or any other number other than 0 or 10,000), you will need to roll between 9,998.5 and 9,999.49 - which would have a 0.01 percent chance of happening.

Faucets a waste of time, but there are other much better ways to earn bitcoins without any initial investment. There are users at BitcoinGet consistently earning 0.01 BTC a day doing tasks in their spare time.

Earn Bitcoin by Completing Tasks: http://www.bitcoinget.com

Hello,
I'm new to BitCoins and I wanted to know if faucet pages are really worth the time?

Welcome to bitcointalk.
Nope IMHO, the faucets don't worth your time. You can only get a few cents an hour on faucets, but you can get much more with real life jobs and bitcoin jobs (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=52.0).

The number may be provably fair but the chances of winning the jackpot are still very slim and essentially zero
