Is anyone using or has used the Amazon AWS free trial (or any other VPS free trial except Microsoft Azure) to mine Monero? I'm a complete newbie regarding all the technical stuff so I already had lots of trouble setting up the blockchain/wallet yesterday after buying my first XMR. So if you have used it could you please help me with a short step by step tutorial on which instance to choose on AWS, how to point the miner to a pool etc. Thanks! If you never did, it's really long and complex to explain. I really have to do a tutorial thread about it.

Yeah that's what I thought already, I tried reading/searching the forum and google but couldn't find any good information and I also dont have the time to read hundreds of pages in the Monero threads and even then I probably wouldn't have worked it out. If you decide to make a tutorial thread please let me know via PM

I don't know if this counts as an advertisement or an announcement, but http://kippo.eu has lowered fees to 1% and 0.1% goes to core devs. Also, software updated to newest version as usual.

posting this here its not good news for Claymore MinerProxy v0.4 Download: https://mega.co.nz/#!WJM2wQZY!YU9QFgnX0vTsfR5PypYNZIjbf_j2lKbezUh74r89kWA No more fees. Replace DevFee address with MinerProxy, and add fee to your balance. Instructions - Enter proxy port, ex. 5555 - Enter pool address and port without stratum+tcp:// or http:// (ex. xmr1.crypto-pool.fr:3333) - Enter Your Coin Addresses where DevFee coins will be payed out, (may be the same address where you mine or different, doesn't matter) - Point your miner to MinerProxy (ex. -o stratum+tcp://127.0.0.1:5555, if proxy is installed on localhost) - Other miners also work with this proxy, so You can easily change pool for all Your rigs. - For failover, start more proxy instances with different ports, and put those addresses to pool.txt If You like it donate some XMR to the author of the software... XMR: 46huLCNkxF5efM526TR5FhDiMNAsRtdbv4NigL5NSgp3T5FB8Xq3EbLQfhDcLVGFsxLHDTtU7MKDucv u4qFr4C73V1GTJHu Seems too good to be true lol... And bit dodgy... anyone tried it with success ? Works great! Easy to set up. can you tell me how it works?I make .bat file like this: NsGpuCNMiner -o stratum+tcp://127.0.0.1:5555 -u wallet adress -p x and i still see dev getting share on the miner what should i write to dev fee xmr on the program? If you entered your address in the field DevFee, than devfee goes to your xmr address I'm testing it with other than main mining address... so far NO shares on other adress... will report back in 15 min

I would encourage pool operators to use a mixin different from zero (at least sometimes) for the withdrawals. Ideally the mixin value would follow a particular random distribution (not uniform) between 0 and 5, and that distribution would not be made public.

Monero's privacy and therefore fungibility are MUCH stronger than Bitcoin's. This makes Monero a better candidate to deserve the term "digital cash".

Hi all, I just launched a new pool dedicated to CryptoNotes at noteminer.com. The Monero pool is the only one functioning so far, but I'd love for you guys to check it out and leave me some feedback on design. I have scripts in place to ensure the wallet/daemon do not de-sync with the pool - which means we should have NO downtime due to backend issues. Here's a little preview: https://i.imgur.com/KqQ9UPk.jpgI look forward to hearing from you all Thanks, noteminer.com

Since this seems to be the XMR mining pool advert thread I guess I'd better mention my pool... Haven't got a fancy logo or anything like that to post at max font size but here's a quick summary: Cryptonotepool UK - http://cryptonotepool.org.uk- One of the longer running Monero pools, not just another download and install clone pool - admin knows it inside and out so super reliable
- Along with crypto-pool.fr we were the first and only pools to display true "efficiency" stats, over 300 blocks mined last week at 110%+ network efficiency, so our miners earned over 10% more than average
- Two days on the 5&6th July when the variance swung against us and 90% of our hashrate departed, so we'll put our money where our mouth is and cut the fee to 0% later today until efficiency is back over 95%!
- Pool runs on our own physical servers in a Tier 1 datacentre, no relying on shared VPS instances. Recently upgraded to handle the 40k+ connections we were peaking at, so no risk of missing blocks due to an overloaded server
- Core API code is standard Zone117X for reliable payment handling etc, plus our own optimisations to outperform other pools!
- We don't just donate a token amount of fees to devteam, CryptonotepoolUK contributes to code development and testing, so by mining on the pool you also help to improve Monero!
Need help setting up or have a special requirement for your mining? Just ask and we'll do our best to help - visit the IRC Chat page on the pool website for contact options.
|
Currently donating all of our 1% pool fee to the dev fund - mine at CryptonotepoolUK and support XMR at no extra cost!
