Ok, so Catapult is a new core architecture that will power the public (NEM) and private (Mijin) blockchains. But I'm still having trouble understanding what that means at a deep level. Basically what I want to know if Nem as in XEM, is still going to be the coins used. There's not going to be a new coin, like with NXT and ARDR.
There will be no new coin. We're gonna switch from nis1 -> catapult-based servers.

Can anyone explain me this "catapult-based servers" In short words: this is complete rewrite of the current NIS (Nem Infrastructure Server) that is written in java into C++ code by keeping all the present features + adding extra features and API calls to the new server.

Thanks for the info that is interesting It would be nice if they add features like sell xem to btc in wallet and withdraw to offline btc wallet. That way we would skip exchanges

But i ask you, which coin will you use in 3 years from now to buy coffee?

I think it will still be a TenX type of solution. But my money is on IOTA. If only the transfers would be instant and 100% working. Otherwise, a less decentralised but 100% speed and foolproof system should have become in vogue (a bitUSD from the BitShares platform/Byteball?).

I don´t think Iota would be capable for this.

Tell me please, did I understand that the developers and the community do not plan to release a new coin, but to completely modernize this one?
When is the map planned for these changes and when is the modernization planned at all?

The price is still cheap, because NEM had no marketing until now! A lot of money will be spend into marketing during the next year!

Yes Indeed, good for us. Lets be honest here: Most people in the cryptoscene are Averga-Joe or the guys who want to make quick buck. No investigation and deep research on tech. Instead getting blinded by shiny websites and buzz-words. Be different: Do your research and invest in solid projects. Also the NEM community seems for me to be the most literate regarding blockchain. Many Technology-Mind people, developers.

It's actually amazing that NEM has claimed the market share that it has with close to zero marketing and being largely ignored by the youtube bloggers, crypto news websites and everything else. I like many others am dying for some big news or huge announcement and for NEM to take that large flying leap into the stratosphere like Ether and Ripple and a few others. I don't think our big jump has come yet, which is why I wait patiently.. even though it sucks. I think they're really trying to hook some large corporation or consortium into using nem tech and then we'll see the price rocket upwards.. just like ripple did when they announced their big corporate partnership. Just have to be patient.. *eta Also getting added to some more exchanges wouldn't hurt.. would definitely increase volume. Kraken being the big one.
