He (or they) is definitely still around. I'm sure they are closely following the evolution and adaption of their creation, and likely still contributing ideas/suggestions/solutions to bitcoin, in one way or another.
Probably lurking somewhere lol, he may or may not be around here anymore but nevertheless, thanks alot satoshi.

The open source nature of Bitcoin would make this very well possible.

Hi, I saw the last post of satoshi in 12.12.2010 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2228.msg29479#msg29479Strange date for last posting. Is he gone from this forum, or he is acting with another name? Why is he hiding at all? The date of the last posting of him is also strange 12 12 2010 ( triple 12) This can be related somehow to BTC.. Any suggestions of oldschool members who actually talked with him ? Thanks! BR Gondel lol maybe he would like to take a small rest =)

The open source nature of Bitcoin would make this very well possible. It's entirely possible that he's still working on bitcoin or amongst us. Maybe he just wanted to get away from being the creator of it.

I really wouldn't read too much into when he last posted - I don't believe that there is anything symbolic or premeditated about it. He is gone because he is gone. Maybe he was spooked, maybe he felt that his work within the community was done - who knows? While satoshi is a mystery, even to those that worked with him, everything he touched need not be interpreted as symbolic, or something with greater meaning. Don't be sad that he is gone/not using that account, be glad that he brought Bitcoin to us!

I think he is not working on anything new, since he is allready rich, first few thousands of BTC mined are his, i'm sure. This can be checked somehow i guess, who was the first miner and how much did he mine so far ?

So while he may have a lot of assets (bitcoin) he has no way of exchanging them for goods/services that he needs.

Right now there a lot of exchanges open that would easily be able to deal with 50-100BTC which would easily suffice for the short term day to day costs. We don't know all of his addresses and as long as he does not withdraw excessive amounts very rapidly it'll be hard to track him down. A couple hundred of BTC over the course of a year would make him quite comfortable without drawing too much suspicion provided that the trades were done in regular small amounts.

Unless its so very few, the amount of Bitcoin days lost would be very significant and someone would notice. And even if he traded at an exchange, any exchange, unless he trades straight crypto to crypto it would be VERY hard to conceal his identity. EDIT: Hi satoshi

If even one coin moved it would be instantly noticed. His coins have never moved.

I would like to say : Satoshi showed his team the miners ran with missing keys gone forever intentionally. But it is uncertain if these first coins could ever be touched. he probably pool mined later on so he had early adopter status, hope he made it out alright
