no speedup on 5850 :/, works, but speed seems unchanged

I'm sorry to hear that. I hope djm34 will come up with a miner which can improve 5xxx/6xxx.

I will try to see what can I do though my programming back ground isn't that strong.

Edit: AMD 14.6beta is behaving strangely with me after I tested for hours, it is the issue:

Whatever I tried to change the GPU/Memory frequencies, it is still the default (factory) values, whether I tried it via MSI after burner or via the miner's conf. file, though GPU-Z shows that the frequencies had been modified, but in fact the REAL ACTIVE values are the factory's one, and the hashrate had not been changed what so ever.

I dont' know is it me or is it the driver.

I downloaded AMD14.4 driver, tested it. I confirm it is working perfectly, the performance is the same of 14.6beta PLUS you can play with the frequencies.

Ok,i got 4.4 on 280x but pool doesn't see that.... Roll Eyes
What's the difference between the miner's hashrate readings and the pool's hashrate readings for your card?

Have you tried it too with another pool?

5xxx and 6xxx ?

can it support 5 & 6 series amd cards?

If i will be able to add it i will do it ASAP, but give it a try

thanks kozmos
would you mind to share settings for your cards (7950 & 280x) please

Sure, here it is: http://pastebin.com/4vS1gw8e

What about heat and wattage? How're they in comparison?

GREAT JOB !! Will test ASAP

wow, that's a huge improvement! Excellent JOB!

Heat is the same Smiley I can not confirm the power consumption cause I did not measure it, but I believe it is the same mostly cause there is no major change in the temperature.

You are welcome guys, the biggest credit goes to djm34.

I re-complied the sgminer and fixed a consistent (idle/work resuming) issue within the mining process.

thanks, but the speed on 290 and 290x is not increase in this (idle/work resuming) fix, please recheck
I guess someone else faced the same problem, check this out: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=623409.msg7406963#msg7406963

This issue lies with MSI afterburner...
(actually I had that problem since some time and it isn't limited at all to 14.6 and was stuck for some time at 1080 which isn't my factory clock).
No get past that, you need to kill msi ab and restart it (or restart the computer before)

Considering the speed increase, you lose it if you don't use 14.6 (although, there were some report it was possible to use bin file generated in 14.6 in older version of the driver.

Thank a lot djm34, I will give it a try too.

It was weird for me cause this is the first time ever facing such thing.

btw, as long as you are the creator of this new miner, would you like me to lock the thread and divert the readers to your topic now as long as this thread's reason (alerting as many users as possible about the the miner had been fixed) had been fulfilled?

Silly me I forgot to add it to the rar folder, I'm sorry. I will fix it and upload the folder again at the main post.

here is the link for the zlib file, paste it in your miner's root folder: https://mega.co.nz/#!s0Zn2RTC!f2_Z2ILTh0q8g9PURjaoEyt5sRBnQNoZfVhMAfzbDAA

tried on 6950 (unlocked shaders), 6970, 5970 in a pc (H81 BTC PRO,RAM 4GB, G1830, W64, USB3 powered PCIE risers).

switched the driver from 14.4 to 14.6, after switching the driver, tried Lasybear's sgminer released on 2014-06-03 (successfully used by me before) and sgminer released yesterday by djm34 and got about 5% decrease on both miners in mining performance of x11 based coins.

Haven't used DDU this time for the driver update, used native AMD uninstaller & installer (felt lazy to restart pc into safe-mode because of lack of an attached monitor at the time and non-operational Teamviewer in the safe-mode). Checked driver version (14.2) in the device manager and it does correspond to catalyst 14.6 package.

Should I wait for an update of the the sgminer with better support of 6XXX and 5XXX series, thou some people in the thread report slight increase in performance using the same adapters and the method described in the thread ?

Or should I re-install (using DDU) the 14.6 driver first ?

Any comments are welcome.

Installed the 14.6 drivers and miner last night and was getting 4.2Mh on my 280x cards. However I would find that one card's load would drop to 0% after anywhere between 10min and an hour.

Uninstalled 14.6 and installed the 14.4 drivers and 'fixed' miner from the OP. I'm now back to my normal 3.2Mh on X11.

EDIT:
I pulled the .bin file originally generated when 14.6 was installed and I was getting 4.2Mh. Ran it in the fixed miner with 14.4 installed and I'm now getting 4.0Mh. Not quite as fast, but better than 3.2. Will monitor for stability.

EDIT EDIT:
Probably getting 4.0Mh instead of 4.2Mh as my clocks are now my normally set 1049 instead of the 1100 factory default I was getting stuck with under 14.6.

Here's my story:

2 rigs, one running win7, one running 8.1. Both with 14.4 drivers.

Win7 (2 280x, 1 290), installed everything as directed. Perfect. Got the expected increase in hash.

Win8.1 (4 280x), installed everything as directed. No increase in hash, one card fails after about 10 min.

Both rigs were using the previous conf files from the last version of SGMiner. Win 7 system, no changes and got the increase. On the Win 8.1 system original conf did nothing, i've tried about 2 hours of various conf tweaks. No change.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Going to try reinstalling everything later from the begining, but maybe someone else ran into issues on 8.1 like this.

The strange thing is, on nist5 older radeons gained as much as newer ones :/

As for drivers, no need to reinstall with 14.4 or 14.6
All one needs is to copy OpenCL files from 14.6 in the folder of sgminer. Bin file will be compiled by 14.6, but the system and OC will be controlled by 13.12 or 14.4 - win-win Smiley

PS: The real weird thing.
On X13 my 6970 increased speed with almost 20% :O
Maybe I have to check x11 with different settings from previous versions :S

It seems all parameters as: shaders/thread-concurrency, -w, -g are ignored

Dude, mind elaborating a bit? Where does one grab those OpenCL files, and just drop them in the main sgminer folder? I'd really rather not delete my drivers, especially after some reports of 10min drop to 0%

My release is based on a fork of lasybear release not girino so it doesn't contain this mechanism.  Wink
