Aero Community,

I have not had a proper chance ask if you have all had a enjoyable festive period. I hope you all enjoyed time with family and friends.

Quite obviously you may have guess that the coin-swap process took longer than anticipated. And indeed from your perspectives happened
without problems however there were significant issues which required attention in order to ensure the process went as smoothly as possible.
 The network was safe to use as soon as it went live however we did have some teething troubles with some of the back end systems erroneous
 conflicts occured which required attention but were resolved quickly once identified.

There were several issues which occurred during this swap which added significant complexity to this swap process which was handled and
managed without us having to taking down the network.

There is still observation work ongoing which needs some coordination to ensure everything has fully been resolved, but you are safe to use
the AM network and also safe to transfer AM.

The final Break down of the Bittrex coin swap figures

Out of the 11.4M AM we have remaining 1283448.02120354 AM as the community fund.
This fund is to be used to carry out the final manual AERO > AM swaps.
Any AM remaining before the 16th Jan 2015 final cut off date will be used for good causes which the community will decide of its usage.

As outlined previously AERO holders who missed the swap will need to contact myself either here via PM/IRC/Slack to receive their
AERO > AM  swap (Manually)

I require a brief message which contains the number of AERO you have to swap.

You to send me the AERO (I will provide you the address to send to during our conversation)

yep, this is common issue believe it or not.
Can you provide me with your debug.log.

1) reboot OS
2) run AeroME-qt.dmg again
3) ** these two steps maybe enough to resolve the issue.

Failing that, can you backup your wallet.dat (if you have one with any coins in) attempt to remove wallet-qt client and install it *fresh* again.

its a known issue with leveldb/ BerkleyDB, As suggested in this answer to remove the blkindex.dat there will be no point as the AM Blockchain is small (16849blks so far) and is no real point to issue a -rescan command so may as well try clean install and fresh sync.


FYI: this build has been tested on Mavericks (Version 10.9), however with the latest OSX Yosemite (version 10.10) security policy changes and the way in which kernel drivers are called and proc escalation managed in the later OSX builds there maybe some deeper issues which may need looking into.

I maybe jumping the gun a bit here BUT If this problem persists I will delve in deeper to rectify any possible bugs with the QT. Before all this please PM me your system spec. and basic info plus debug.log *first* so i can take a look at whats going on with this problem.

N.B.

make sure that the app folder for the wallet has the read/write/execute for group/user set correctly. this maybe another possible cause for the above issue, please test anyway to see if the wallet-client can access the directory's and files under its install path.

Good, yes i thought it would rectify itself after second attempt, only now i'm seeing it fixed itself.. and yes this is a common issue.. something which needs to be patched with leveldb source repo itself, so that other projects dont suffer with this problem, tbh im surprised its been left like this for so long now "unpatched"..

Anyway, when i have the time i will submit a bug-fix and commit to the leveldb project repo.

I think this is a 1st run issue when the db does not yet exist. I've tried on 3 machines now. All 3 fail on the 1st run with the same error, then open fine after that. (on both 10.9.5 and 10.10)

I can repeat in QT5.3.2 (this wallet QT lib build) and in earlier version of QT build platform independent tests it will take some detective work to nail it down.  QT is now a dying technology for wallet related stuff imho and should be phased out in favor of modern node-gyp toolchain build processes for hybrid native HTML5 apps in due course then soon to be replaced with pure JSX based alternatives.

But in the meantime QT wallets more than provide a flexible and stable, solid platform for cross-platform networked clients..  Who knows maybe soon we will have some kind of "firm" spec. framework setup by a crypto-working group for crypto-related tech developments beyond those of BIP provide to date.. maybe wishful thinking

humm.. well a small thing about minor issues.. its the minor issues which if left unchecked can quite easily cause a cascading effect and snow ball out of control. your correct in the fact about this issue being shared across *most* cryptos (but not all) as if you checked Aero-qt-anon-rev2 build this issue was fixed and thus, my previous point about being able to nail down the exact dependency and methods in the code which is the crux of this problem a much easier proposition to tackle as i know how to reproduce and how to test against it.

Unfortunately AM uses a different codebase from AERO codebase not quite its sibling from the pull request of the main AERO branch but very close to the private MASTER branch which is on my machine. This fix never made it into this initial AM release but will find its way in during the next iteration of the AM build. After which point, once confirmed as "fixed" i will submit to the leveldb project as an "issue" have it confirmed as an issue and then apply the fix to the public MASTER AM branch. SO, if this fix is accepted and resolves the issue no more cryptos based of the latest leveldb deps will have this problem well most that exploit leveldb for that matter.

This issue also goes deeper than a simple dependency issue it also has the makings of problematic compile time issues, meaning some of the library's used in the build process do not play nice with gcc 4.2 this is something which again is the result of many inter-processes reliant on shared library resources at compile time built with linux binaries are that are also created using gcc 4.2.. like i said its more than a minor issue. The work-around to this issue may indeed be minor/simple however the issue is not minor nor will be the fix.

FYI: The closest race condition i can reproduce is found in the following git issue tracker which most closely resembles this issue.  https://github.com/google/leveldb/issues/203
It all steams from how the deps use fcntl F_FULLFSYNC when fsync() maybe a better approach.

Just me who missed the bill. Thought I set up some kind of automatic billing thing last time, as some of you remember its not the first time this has happened.
Anyways, not able to do anything about it now. Passwords are writen on some paper in my home, and I am currently away.

I will also take this moment to appologize for my lack of activity lately, its the holidays, lots of stuff happening and etc.
When its over and back to the normal week, I will be back 100%. Aerotalk will get a clean up, but will probably not do anything to create traffic/activity.
Getting activity and keeping it that way is to difficult and to expensive to do before the Aerome release.


Aero in general has been pretty quiet lately and will be that way until the release comes.
Everything surrounding Aero right now is in prepare mode, from the technical stuff to the promoting stuff.

See some people asking for news, and I dont blame you.
The best I can provide right now is a little preview of the AeroME Announcment.

No one will beg you to invest, this isn't a get rich quick coin for any of us. We've all been waiting for a long time.

All I can say is we trust the dev... To me, he's flat out the best dev I've seen in the space since Satoshi. Ive been here since the beginning and I haven't sold a coin in months. After the swap, I now have 300k in coins, and I have no plans to sell on the release of AeroME to break even. Im a long term holder.

He doesn't operate like any of the other coins. He sets no release dates, to avoid pumps, and he never shows his cards. Features are released when they're done, and they have been perfect.

He's building AeroMe from scratch with no templates. Which is amazing, but its taking a long time.

This is the main issue with AeroMe... we've been waiting for the release of AeroMe for 4 months now. The project may have been a little too ambitious. The dev has even commented on how it may not of been a great idea to build this platform this early in development.... When its ready the promotional team has a full campaign ready, and we will all rejoice...but until then, Its just another alt with some very loyal holders.

As for the community, well things are very quiet atm, but it's only because of the coin swap which needed to be done. We do have a strong and loyal community here that will do all they can also, but like I said it will remain quiet until all coin swapping issues are dealt with, and then Mark my words the promotion side of things will pick up ready for the release of AeroMe. This is a big project but with people fed up of scams and pump n dumps more and more will flock to aero (aerome) as they will see a dev who delivers big projects and a coin that's now been around a long time (in crypto) and still getting better!

It's still early days and the early investors will reep the rewards and be rewarded for their patience with who we believe is the most honest dev in crypto! And for an Alt, that is what people crave!
