Bitmain has never lied to a customer and there is a reason why delivery timeframes are given.
Right, just like when they said that no customers had been shipped a used unit They are also much more transparent than many other companies in the bitcoin mining sector.
That's saying a lot

The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

Im pretty sure when I bought my 6 s3s on opening day it said pre order. Second I think their track record demands no complaining till they dont make good on their delivery dates. Wish they were allready on the network because when they do ship it means diff bump as opposed to a drop while they shipped out.

It is not a classical pre-order which would mean in the current Bitcoin-world that customers basically finance what first has to be developed. It was an order, Bitmain produces the machines and sends them out. The machine's parts are in hand, a working prototype is a available. So what? They said they send out the miners on the 10th. If it will be the 15th, they still will be better than 97,2% of all other miner producers in the market.
If you order an S2 with them, you don't know if they just produce it at the moment of the order....
I've ordered privately and for a company 16 S3 at the moment and will only start to complain if they are not here by mid-August.

FAQ: Are you mining with S3 now?
Yes, we have been mining with one S3 testing sample on our engineer's desk. But we have not been able to do a large mining farm with S3 yet. We have been using S2 machine to deploy a mining farm, and that is how we own the hash rate.
The bulk PCB will be arriving tonight, and we will start first batch production tomorrow. First batch usually takes a longer time than later. We may ship the S3 -B1 on or before 14th.
So the units are not even built yet??? why did you open sales when not even having them in production? Surely you knew the demand these would create and also that time is money in the mining community. Whilst I know you guys are a legit company, that does seem a little sloppy....... I understand your point vulgar but in Bitmains defense this is kind of exceptionally good behavior from a mining equipment manufacturer. Being the first batch and the tape out is completed the wafers are already manufactured, diced and shipped and all they need are the boards. If they ship out on the 14th you should get them before the 20th customs withstanding.

I don't know which I'm bothered by more, the delivery delay or the fact that the S3 will have somewhere around a 1.25 petahash impact on the network. Previously I (and others, I suspect) had assumed that their recent surge in hash rate was due to S3 testing.
Both of these factors work against ROI, which was on the hairy edge anyway. This is disappointing. Just how disappointing will depend on when the units are actually delivered and what the network difficulty will look like then.

Next difficulty is in 4.5 days ...like July 11 ...I guess ... S3 will start shipping on July 11 or July 14 ...Friday or Monday...weekend in between...IMHO ... ZiG

I would like to think that Bitmain has finished manufacturing a while ago and, in fact, is secretly mining. That, to be honest, would be better than them not mining right now.
That would mean we won't see a huge increase in hashrate once they ship.

"We have been using S2 machine to deploy a mining farm, and that is how we own the hash rate."
What does this part mean exactly?
'We only have S2s in our mining farm and that is all we use to get our hash rate.' Is how I would translate the Google translation or I would make the inference that their entire hash rate is from the S2's they have on their farm and nothing else. They stated they only have 1 - S3 running for testing purposes.

LOL, 'we only have one S3' ... and it's on a test bench. They don't say how many benches ... won't shoot them though for that. If their farm 'is' entirely populated with S2s, it will be interesting to see how the price drops when they swap them out for S4's, or S2's with upgraded boards.
