Re the PSU question,

I've already got a 1000w OCZ ZX PSU, and I'm planning to run my 2 S3 overclocked to 504ghs or thereabouts.  Do you think I'll be ok using the PCI E cables that came with the PSU or should I get thicker gauge?

Thanks

No way to order S3 now. It seems that Batch 1 is sold out.  Shocked

I enjoy how they let me go through to checkout, then they decide to tell me this nonsense....

It is my question as well, what PSU to choose? Any idea?

A lot of PSUs are available to select.
You some PSUs and post the community will help you.
Watch the PSUs efficiency rating and take a look at the +12V single rails current rating.

Yes, thank you. I am looking for good one. What I do not understand is prereq of how many PCI-e connectors is needed in case of overclocking. Reading info on Bitmain I think all four needs to be populated Huh

Here is info from Bitmain:
"There are 4 PCI-e connectors for +12V DC input, but it only needs to connect two of them if without overclocking (PSU not included). Don’t parallel connected different DC input from different PSU into the same Hashing board."

As far as I know, if do not intend to overclock then 2 pcie connectors (per unit) are sufficient.

I think any Gold rated PSU from a reasonable brand  850w and over should be ok if you plan to keep with normal clocks.

the network is over-secured.

after the asic inflation comes the "network trust inflation".

people starting to realize that buying asic is not so profitable anymore.

Funny (or sad) thing is that professional investors who run gigantic farms will soon be out of business ... even at $0.05/kWh.

Asics have always been a shot in the dark.  I should have just bought coins when I could (when I started my interest into btc they were about £50 each)  But getting hardware is far more interesting than sitting there with some numbers on a screen.

I personally see mining like a fun hobby.  I paid off my initial investment this April, and am still getting 17 usd per week profit after electricity costs.

and do you know parameters for overclocking S3 ?
and if you want to overclock, you need to connect 4 PCI-e connectors instead of 2?

I would say yes:

Here is info from Bitmain:
"There are 4 PCI-e connectors for +12V DC input, but it only needs to connect two of them if without overclocking (PSU not included). Don’t parallel connected different DC input from different PSU into the same Hashing board."

Need to wait for some testing performed on the life machine.

Well who's stupid? Miners ,builders , investors all of them?

Like it or not it grows by it the cyber coin universe is expanding as I type.

Do you know what would kill it off.

Raise interest rates to 5-7 percent.  Bring back 30yr  US  Bonds at 9%.  = Death to this universe.

Here is the deal people with a little bit of  extra money or a lot of  extra money need places to invest it.

Buying cyber  coins is like buying stocks .  Passive investing.   Mining is more like running a business active.

Does it really do anything does it have a purpose?

Yes it offers a chance to make some money if you work at it and it is your own business so to speak.

One you can do in house.

More importantly, it would be good to see upgrade plans/pricing for existing S1/S2 owners. That will make a big ROI difference depending on price.

@Bitmain, any details you can disclose yet on when/how much those upgrades will cost?

Estimates from Bitmain on S2 upgrade prices/features would be very useful right now.
