Looks like PMP is transforming into 2GIVE ...

PMP was brought to my attention by a friend - one of the founders of http://watchmybit.com -- he thought that PMP had some of the same kind of core characteristics that 2GIVE had so and encouraged me to check in here.

I read through the entire thread (both old and new) -- and came to the same conclusion!

I downloaded the wallet -- and I thought the blockexplorer was a neat add, but WAY beyond the 90% use case -- I tend to "outsource my weaknesses"

Then when I saw how much FRICTION the chain had I knew that 2GIVE had the right design to be sustainable.

I'm inviting the PMP holders who have kept the torches lit in hopes of a rescue to consider joining 2GIVE :-)

While 2GIVE was born from the ashes of "Givecoin" -- it's going to be so much more than a pure "charity coin" -- the goal is to become a viable "social tipping" platform -- in the REAL WORLD -- to help educate and expand the crypto economies.

You see...I believe that when the tide comes in...all boats rise...

It's Better 2GIVE ;-)

PS: We now hold 13% of all the PMP

That's my thoughts also, that's why the vibe of jl777's SuperNET makes sense to me (many alts united into one platform) ... have you thought of hitching 2GIVE to the SN wagon?

It's a good question.   Part of what we're doing with 2GIVE is a "research sandbox" in part to test some pretty innovative concepts in blockchain tek -- chief among them will be identity & reputation, voting, and hopefully demonstrating a "predictable hard fork" concept that will periodically reboot the chain by generating a new genesis block that contains all the unspent outputs.

The other thing we want to do is get a solid understanding of merged mining and side chains.

That's not to say we won't hitch up to something else in the future -- it's just that the way 2GIVE has been designed, we don't really need any auxiliary mining power to secure the chain...

SuperNET was going to use BITMARK for a reputation system & tipping, but BTM has died afaik, so they have a need for that maybe

Good To Know.

All of our work has gone into a concept tentatively called "IDCoins" -- http://bit.ly/idcoins

We're going to test out some of those concepts in 2GIVE first :-)

The number of nodes connected has dropped off in last few days -- only showing 3 connections on our seed nodes and you have to subtract one from that because we're peering with our other node.

We'll leave the wallets up for another week I guess?

I thought I read someone was traveling and out of town and wanted to get in on the swap??

We're up to 15% ownership of the listed "MONEYSUPPLY" -- any idea how many coins are in the development wallet?  Not that it matters much anyway, just curious ;-)

LULZ

That might be true of most coins...but the current "utility" of 2GIVE vs PMP is that 2GIVE is on three exchanges so if you don't like where 2GIVE is headed you can certainly swap it for some something else that has more utility for you.

If you're super lazy you can just PM me your private key info for PMP and I can just import it into our wallet and rescan.

OMFG just when you didn't think it could get worse ;-)

The staking algo in this chain is ridiculous!   I'm all bound up at the moment with 99% of our swap wallet stuck in staking -- literally down to just 2 available coins, and it would only let me send 1 coin to our other seed wallet.

I'm going to try and divide and conquer here to get our other seed some coins to stake on it's own.

Just a HORRIBLE design that was clearly rushed to market without thinking through the consequences.

As an aside, I launched 8 ALPHA chains to test and prove out the POS/POW hybrid in 2GIVE before settling on the current design we have, which is now powering up on it's own thanks to the 30 day window opening on all the "air-dropping" we have been doing to the chain -- check out the mix of POS and POW activity that is picking up!

"Hell I'd piss on a sparkplug if I thought it would do any good" ;-)

We'll get there -- the swap will continue as long as people PM me...

BUMP

Just a quick update -- we're still stuck at the exact same place we were a few days ago.

We're down to just two (2) connections on our seed nodes and no new blocks in days.  All our coins are locked up in staking but I was able to get 1 coin out to another node that maybe will stake a single block to hopefully unlock our other coins.

The upshot is that we may have to require getting the private key and -rescanning the chain as a way of "moving coins" for anyone else who wants to swap over 2GIVE.

Thanks guys, I've finally managed to sync up again and confirm 100% of my PMP balance which I've now redeemed for 2GIVE!

I'll keep my node going for a few more days in case there are more stragglers.

Thanks to you and everyone else who has taken part in this SWAP

I can confirm that SNF now holds 15% of all PMP  or 177,083.59

We'll keep our dual wallets online until the end of the month and then we'll shut down and put the PMP into our vault.
