Seems the lag in getting this going has prevented MetaCoin from actually being the first Escrow Currency.  Another coin just launched a while back with the exact same selling point, first Escrow currency.  I think it is pawncoin or something like that, but I believe they have beat us to the finish line:-(

Pawncoin is on it's arse, mystery surrounding what's happening to IPO funds and dev's awol.

Keep plugging away.

Yeah I honestly do not know much about it, I saw the thread when it was first posted and my gut told me to leave quick so I did.  Before leaving though I noticed their claim to be the first to have built in escrow when Meta had already made that claim.  Meant to mention it here a while back and forgot about it till today so I did not really research it or anything.

Alpha version of 0.9.2 launched.

I'm going run a bunch of tests and fixes now. As you'll probably notice it's based on bitcoin 0.9.2.1 and as of now only the daemon will work. The former dev was suppose to deal with the QT part and didn't show up, so i'll do it through this weekend.

If someone is interested in looking or running the code, clone it from http://gitlab.metacoinproject.org/metacoin/metacoin-core/tree/0.9.2-alpha

And remember this is an alpha stage code.

Thanks for the update dev, is great to see some forward momentum happening here.

I think I stated my opinion of the "old" dev working on this project again, didn't feel right after he lost any and all trust from such a quick abandonment of this project.  This person is obviously HIGHLY unreliable and not committed at all to this project.  Personally I am glad he flaked again now rather than later!

Also Alexander has started to work on the next version which implement the paper.
His current roadmap is an early alpha version in four weeks.
Beta version and finale release for October.

I started to think about a potential relaunch for this coin. What do you think guys ?! Is that a bad idea ?

What do you mean the so called relaunch?
I have already mined the current meta coin for months.
I don't want to see that you create a new coin with a brand new genesis block.

Yeah me too, don't think he was talking about starting completely fresh though.  Or he better not be:-)

Hey meta.....can you give more clarification on what your thoughts were in regards to a re-launch?  Like how it would work and what would happen to people's current holdings?

Thanks!

Currently busy with the code separation and bug fix. But don't worry we won't do anything that will hurt the current stakeholders.
I'll come with more details this week

Dude, can you let us know WTF is going on?  If you are going to drop it say so, this not knowing is just further wasting people's time!

I enjoy watching the waiting in this thread. If there were more developments, it might even be popcorn-worthy, but you're pretty much the only one that's been replying to this for the last month.

Good luck.

Sad Sad Sad Sad ... I was so excited when I found this coin. I'd had this exact idea for a really long time, I even was going to name it the same. Ah well.
