In that order.

The probability that you too are a criminal, is very high.
Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

My numbers with current difficulties:

245Mh/s => 0.164 BTC per day

vs

265kh/s => 182 LTC per day => 0.001075 LTC per BTC (bid price right NOW) => 0.196 BTC per day => 19% more

Of course there would be a percent or two of friction in the exchange but the difference is still quite a bit. Obviously at my miniscule mining numbers, it doesn't make much difference but I see no reason it wouldn't scale.

I think GPU mining might end up helping Litecoin rather than hurting it because it will act as a stabilizing force as miners switch back and forth between LTC and BTC depending on which is currently the most profitable.
That's assuming that everyone doesn't do it. in which case, the exchange rate will plummet, and your initial calculations will be useless. If you're keeping an eye on LTC -> BTC prices on a daily basis, and you're exchanging coins on a daily basis, it should be relatively risk free.

It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

I cant, for the life of me get this working. Stupid reaper just keeps saying
"Error: Config file .conf not found."

I kept getting that until I put all the config options in one file, called "lightcoin.conf", and invoked Reaper as "reaper.exe lightcoin.conf".  Then it loaded the same file twice, but seemed perfectly happy about it and ran just fine.

Side note, on the off chance mtrlt peruses this thread...

I've poked a bit at the .cl file for Lightcoin support in Reaper, and although I have a few questions (like what the hell the gpu_thread_concurrency and lookup_gap "mean", aside from their role in memory block alignment), I have one "real" question...

Why does padcache (aka lookup in scrypt_core()) use workitem-major order (ignoring z) rather than y-major order which (for non-CL C code) would better preserve locality of reference?  I refer to the output of the coord() macro here.  I honestly don't know if it makes any difference in performance given the overall pattern of memory access, but I wondered if on some cards that serves to improve vector performance (by using the dot product rather than a straight mult)?

I get about 520 kH/s out of my 5970 for a few seconds, and then I get nothing but "Weird response from server" or something like that.  I don't get what I'm doing wrong  Sad

Your fine, I assume its caused by lack of longpolling, just let it run, and eventually the shares submit.

Well if litecoin does become worth more you will likely kick yourself thinking why didnt I keep mining......I did that with namecoin when it first came out. I mined it then stopped because I didnt know if it would amount to anything. Of course it ended up hitting $2.50 per coin in June of 2011.

Go solo mine you cowards!  Cheesy
I am making around 500LTC per day which is more then what mining calculator predicts according to my hashrate.

I think that means you don't have the AMD APP SDK installed. Get it here:
