As the world recently discovered, Sheregesh is soon to host a Yeti Park with a hotel and museum dedicated to the elusive creature which, say its proponents, has been sighted in the surrounding mountains a number of times in recent years.

'We are building the Yeti Park now, and of course there will be a chance for people who come here to see creature,' said

Igor Idimeshev, 48, deputy head of Sheregesh's local council.

'For me, having Yetis here means something much more than the simple tourist attraction.'

Strange footstool fossil discovered in Siberia.

“It’s an unbelievable find,” said Russian archeologist Yugo Digaditch. “We think it maybe a prehistoric stool – you know the kind you put your feet on or it could be a giant rabbit. We won’t really know until we thaw it out and get to look at it a bit more closely.”

Hairy giants that roamed the Northern Siberia in the late Pleistocene disappeared about 10 thousand years ago, although isolated groups continued to live in the Islands to the North and East. The last specimens became extinct approximately 3700 years ago.

I've been there once in winter. The water is so pure that you can see the bottom of the lake through ice. But they have very cold winters there, which is fun too.

This does look interesting.  Are there any tourist attractions there besides this?  I think it would be great to stop out there during one cold winter day and just look at the beauty.  Those of you who said you have been here, do you have any pictures?

The nuclear arms race was a truly harrowing experience for both superpowers. Each claimed self-defense as the reason for their continuous buildup of nuclear weapons. The amount of destructive yield increased exponentially, making the threat of nuclear war even more frightening. It would be interesting to see what kind of nuclear arms tests were done on both sides, and compare the “one-upmanship” of the U.S. and the USSR.

Today the the threat comes from NATO encroaching on all fronts with military bases in Europe.

On the contrary, four thousand years ago, the local inhabitants suddenly abandoned Arkaim and the empty settlement burnt.

What happened to these people? Were did the go?

Now, we can add the enigmatic megaliths discovered by Georgy Sidorov to the list of unsolved mysteries. Perhaps this was once a site of great importance to an ancient lost civilization that used it for shamanistic or other unknown purpose.

How many more secrets will we uncover in Siberia? Only time will tell… Siberia remains a land full of secrets.

Some of these pictures that are being posted are some of the greatest pictures I have seen in some time.  it kinda makes me want to go here for a long visit!!  I would love to see the arctic areas as well as the wildlife.  Thanks for all the great pictures.
