If you really wanted to protect your coins you could just send them to another wallet and then use the original empty wallets private keys.  Is it secure enough, if I just send my coins to another address in the same wallet, or do I really have to create new wallet? |

If you import your keys it's ok to move the coins to another address on the same wallet, if you want to use the wallet.dat you'll need a new one to save your coins.

Freetrade posted about this some posts above, you need to upgrade and restart your wallet. I also had to reindex (deleted everything except wallet.dat and lottoshares.conf from the working directory) to get on the correct fork.
The ae gateway wallets are at block 1748 now.

ahh, yes, thanks but im aware of the update btw, lottoshares.42tx.com shows 1736 as the latest block is it on wrong fork too? |

Latest block as far as I can see is 1737 -
A bug with the old software is preventing some clients from connecting the 1737 block. Recommended to download the new code and reindex.
Clients on 1748 are likely on an invalid orphan chain. New code + reindex required there too.
