Right.

I do feel for innocent victims of doxxing, though. I welcome suggestions on how to improve forum policy in this area. However, forum policy must be consistent, and I'm not going to start deciding who's guilty and who's not (again).

Hypocrisy? Perhaps if you would like to be consistent, you won't delete threads containing your dox and ban the users that posts it.

The grue lurks in the darkest places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

(This isn't the thread that Confessions posted, Confessions posted it in Scam Accusations and that was deleted [not just moved to trashcan])

Also:

The proof of Theymos dox being deleted are gone, but I swear I seen it two times in the last week, and it was deleted both times pretty quick.

That is the problem. There is no way that the forum could verify every scam accusation, nor should it have to now that there are more appropriate services available for this. Since we can't make exceptions to allow for people to post the personal information of scammers, we have two choices:

1) Remove all posted personal information, like Reddit.
2) Allow everyone to post personal information about anybody.

Bitcoin attracts a lot of scammers, so I would tend to err on safer side of allowing all personal information. Not to mention, if it wasn't posted here, it would just be posted somewhere else. Public information cannot be made unpublic.

Right.

I do feel for innocent victims of doxxing, though. I welcome suggestions on how to improve forum policy in this area. However, forum policy must be consistent, and I'm not going to start deciding who's guilty and who's not (again).

I've been thinking that maybe it would be an improvement to require that dox be posted along with sources for all of the data, and ban dox that doesn't come from a "public source" (government site, news story, Facebook, etc.). This would make casual doxxing more difficult, help readers determine whether the dox is actually accurate, and hamper distribution of info obtained from illegal sources (hacking, etc.). I'm not sure that it would help enough to be worth the trouble, though.

Scam accusations and doxxes should be made only in one subforum, where IP addresses of posters are displayed.
This would immediately eliminate most of the fake scam accusations on the board while enhancing the credibility of existing ones.
It would also force people to be more responsible with their accusations and doxxing.

The forum should also be fitted with a filter to prevent posters from masking their IPs using free proxy services.
There are numerous sources (updated daily) of public proxies.
Private VPN and proxies are traceable, so it shouldn't matter if posters are using them.

Anonymity should not be abused, in my opinion.

Even Theymos had to laugh at this so damn hard.

Laughters unite!
Doesn't seem like he laughed. Instead, he is looking at ways in which forum policy could be changed.

The signature campaign posters adding useless redundant fluff to their posts to reach their minimum word count are lowering my IQ.

Bumping this post.

Why are the dox of theymos deleted, but not the dox of anyone else?

Because this is a privately owned forum and they can do as they please. They have said before that the rules are flexible. It usually isn't the best idea to post the dox on the accused's website. There are plenty of high SEO ranking websites that'll happily publish dox.

Do you want your dox deleted from here or something? I doubt they will do that considering the mountain of substantiated accusations against you. Maybe if you settle your debts with everyone or prove your innocence they will remove them. Although being hacked still justifies having your dox up as you are not capable of handling others funds so maybe they won't.

That is how, not why. The reason that I am asking, which I am sure you will grasp, is that there appears to be unfair selective enforcement of the rules.

That is how, not why.

Because:

- If theymos isn't a scammer he perfectly knows it, so removing his dox is removing the dox of a known (to him) innocent honest person, which is ok.
- If theymos is a scammer, well of course he's going to remove it Smiley.

Schrodinger's dox? theymos is both a scammer and not a scammer when he removes his dox? Or is that just a paradox. I don't think he can be in a superposition of both.

Ah well.

My opinion is that if LD actually fucked somebody over via some sour deal(s), then he should be doxxed, but not because somebody may have the red-ass toward him because of his post history.

BTW, pay no attention to my negative trust thingy on the left.

It is even worse guys, I saw some people (they have a red or cyan coin) who have the power to delete threads, edit posts of regular users and even ban people! Shocked
How can this be allowed?? I want that power too! Sad

Why are you so interested in seeing Theymos dox being public?

Just curious.

~BCX~

I've previously had the impression of this forum sticking true to it's 'principles of free speech'. (This is from theymos, not me). The forum has always very very rarely modified anything in Scam Accusations. It seems that some administrators forget these principles when it is convenient for them, which they do have the power to do, but they shouldn't pretend that such principles apply in practice.

Oh, and theymos's dox is in plenty of places.

Oh, and theymos's dox is in plenty of places.

Has has removed the dox of obviously innocent people before. KWH was one such person he removed the dox of.

IIRC he has mentioned before that he will remove personal information if it was obtained by hacking or it is clearly obvious to theymos that the person is innocent of scamming. Theymos must have considered himself innocent of scamming or maybe the dox was obtained via hacking, it did have the last 4 digits of his CC which seems to indicate it came from a retailer or such.
