Hello,
I just got 3 used S3+ and they are coming in pretty low.
I puttied into one and set it to the 250 setting, and it's pulling around 430

What's the best setting for these?

I'm using them for heat in the basement. so Efficiency is not my top concern.

Thanks.

I hope you have a good psu and connect all 4 PCIe cables to the miner?
Look at the status page maybe the reason is of several "x" between the "o" because of the high setting after some minutes
Did you make a (soft)reboot after the changes?

Soft reboot yes, but I'm only running two connectors, maybe that's the issue?
no X's and its a high grade evga 1300 watt psu, plenty of power.

I may need to buy some pci splitters, and this doesnt have enough lines for all 12 conectors...

I won't overclock my unit without having 4 PCIe cables connected! Please be carefull that the cables dont melt and burn down your psu and all things around!

Which firmware is it ?   Make sure you have the correct voltage as well.  You have to find the sweet spot and do not try go go over 460-470 with 2 cables. It will get too hot and possibly melt.

I have a couple that run great at 231 - 237 .. 0750v . you have to reboot when changing voltage

wow people still think that changing the voltage on the s3 does anything?

it has been tested, and tested and tested again and changing the voltage does NOTHING to the chips.

Thats correct from my point of view and experience! The power consump grows up with the higher frequency

I've got them where I'm happy,
I'm using them as a basement space heater, so consumption isn't my big concern.

I have S7's located elsewhere, power is 7.5 cents CAD where I live, so cheap, maybe 5.7 cents usd? but int he summer, it get's hot. so colocated until winter Smiley

I have one with 4 pci, and am using the EVGA 1300watt.
two of the video power cables had duel output's, so one miner is running wirh 4 plugs.

All seems good now Smiley

Just wish I could find an updated miner monitor so I don't keep multiple tabs open

It definitely does on mine. At 0500 I can barely get 15 out of 16 chips to show. At 0600-700 I'm stable everything works, at 0750-0800 overclocks and hot , 0850+ fire..

why would bitmain code a whole screen and settings only to have it serve no function or not be implemented. you need a certain fw and a perhaps a certain board rev but I can definitely confirm the voltage moves.

But does it make any difference on what the PSU is sending to the miner? Have you got a wattage reading device on the plug socket?

Those increments are only a fraction of a volt. I don't think they would show up on a meter. I'm no electrician but wouldn't a power supply already draw what is required + a bit more, so a fraction of a volt on a mining board wouldn't really move the power consumption. just perhaps less heat from one of the components on the power supply that are already wasting power by burning off as heat.

Ive got that screen on both my S3+ (yes I know this is the regular S3 thread Wink )and I had it on my old S3 aswell but all of them were blank and have been since I fired them up. They are all overclocked to a degree and run fine and achieve good hashrates.  Smiley

Hey Guys hope you can Help me  Undecided
I have two Antminers S3+ bought used over ebay. To the First one: I've bought it with a 1.000Watts Server PSU, so i know as a absolutely Noob that the PSU is not the Problem. It was complete configured to my Pool when it arived, so i pluged it in and it starts to mine with no Problems. But than someday in my Pool was a "Doublehash" ( i named it so when the pool found 2 Blocks on the same time) and the miner starts to beep and after that he shuts down. I have read that i must disconnect the power suply and connect it again so it would run, also i've done this and i thought it were everything fine again but nothing. In my Pool there comes no power from the S3+ and when i get in the configuration menu (interface) i can't change things, when i click on "Save & aply" comes a text "No library" or "LUA Error" or something in this direction. In some menu points in the Interface i cant get in, he tolds me directly that there is no library or something not installed or LUA Error. So i thought "reset it" i tried about feeled 100 resets and no one worked, when i get back in the interface the same as before Sad It's verry frustrating to see others wo run a reset with no problems i dumbass made a antminer to a deco objekt :///

To the second One: I've bought it also over Ebay used from a other seller like the first Antminer S3+. I pluged it in, gave the ip in the browser and boom Password :O so i tried "root" and nothing goes -.- I've contacted the seller to get the password from him, he tolds me in a mail that it must be "Robert12" or "root" In this moment i knew he doesnt have a plan about the password and im fucked again :/ So i have a PSU which works and a Miner without interface login due to lost password of the pre user. Can i hack it or crack it somehow? For any ideas and Help i'm verry Thankfull

Sounds like you bricked the first one by putting that double hash crap in there.

Second one a reset should work to gain access to it.

Voltage adjustment does not work on most S3, not only does it not change the measured voltage but the circuit design does not support variable voltage, also Bitmain removed the voltage adjustment from the latest firmware releases..

However your description here does sound like the exact results that you would expect if variable voltage was working, except that at 0500 (0.5V) I would not expect it to Hash at all?. I do not know how many S3 there are out there that support voltage adjustment but it sounds like you have one of them. Can you take a picture of your Hash board so that we can see the component compliment relative to the standard S3?

So i've done nothing to the first miner, i was happy that it runs for about two weeks without problems and then my pool found 2 blocks in 1-3 minutes and from then it runs but nothing gets to the pool ... i can enter the "Miner status" and the "Miner Configuration" but when i will set a new pool and will "save&aply" it doesn't work at all "No Library" Can i nothing do to him to let him back to work? I thought like a new "image" upload on it or something like that ....

Second One was also reseted and nothing works, when i get to the interface (not over the standard ip, whats wondering me) and gave "root" in the password field it says invalid password or username ... how can i fix this probs? Gives therefor a solution?

Thanks

For the first one its possible that a firmware update could solve the problem of a corrupt libary. But maybe you shoot em down complete trying it...
For the second unit you should perform a hardware reset. Use a small pencil and push the reset button behind the small hole next to the network connector

I think about to install the firmware complete new on the first miner so it have the basic settings and the library works again so i can configure the rest step by step but i can, now i can't configure anything

The second... I will try to reset it again ... So before i do this the 453th time, is it the rigth way? Push the reset butten for about 10-15 seconds ---> wait about 3 minutes after that with power on ----> push the button again ---> wait again about 3 minutes ---> switch power off and again on and it will work? So than i can tell you before that it won`t work but Cheesy i can try again and again so the miner isn't working and i have no better to do with him in the moment Grin Also when here is somewhere with a little time we can teamview about it, maybe i'm only to dumb for it Smiley

Hmmm maybe your second s3 runs with the firmware that has the reset bug!

Jap i've said it before ... I have done the Reset now again 3 times behind and all i can do is nothing, the same ip (not static and in my routers range) and the same with password and username error/invalid. So now i have the only option to putty them two? When it is so i sell this crap things and buy me more S1 units! I'm so pissed about 3 weeks ;( First a CC A1 destroyed my network and now i know that i am the only lucky guy which bought a s3+ which has the reset bug i think, from the other one we won't speak right now ... That's Luck Cheesy I go and play better Lottery maybe i had the six right numbers to win i think Cheesy
Thanks for all Wink I threw them to ebay i think.

A couple of things to note for you success with the S3..

- first is that half the info in this forum is outdated, invalid or was put together by an idiot to begin with so don't follow everything you read.  (such as reset 3 times to make it work once)

- second you don't explain yourself very well.  try leaving out all the extra junk and only mention your points so people can read and understand and actually help you in the correct manner.

So start with the password one, make sure nothing else is on your network or router or power supply.

- put a toothpick in the reset hole, feel around for the button properly, its actually a bit down from the hole, make sure you have actually pressed the button and not just squeeze a pencil in there and do nothing.

********

Press and hold the button for 5 seconds - release -- wait 3 minutes -- power off -- wait 10 seconds -- power back on -- wait 3 minutes and login to 192.168.1.99 ..

********  I bet you that will work.  assuming you can follow instructions
