hey guys i have been having some problems with my s3's on ghash. they seem to be having a very high amount of low difficulty share's difficulty is set at 256 but the hashrate displays incorrectly most of the time from the s3's but not my s1's Which one is your S3's? You should consider using different individual worker names if its worker7. I have seen people have issues combining workers on pools which set difficulty for individual miners. I thought the S3 didnt initially have any p2pool support in the first firmware, and the second firmware was largely cosmetic. If you guys want people off ghash and on to p2pool, it might help to give people a gentle nudge in the right direction. Just sayin. Rich

Finally got this setup finished. Built a custom server room in my pole barn to house all the ants. I figured they would run nice n cool with a small air conditioned room and the ants exhausted out the back. but that doesn't look like the case. I'm seeing temps on most of them up around 47 and 48 degrees even with the ac on high. I'm not sure if it's because all the PSU's are so close to the ants that it's sucking in the warm exhaust from the psu's, or just need a bigger AC, or maybe something wrong with the airflow of the room. The ants are creating suction in the small room, so much it whams the door shut and there is a noticeable difference in the sounds the fans are making while the door is open vs the door being shut. When it's shut it sounds like a vacuum when you put your hand over the hose. Is 47-48 not OCed still acceptable or should I worry about getting them down and suggestions on doing that which doesn't require moving the Ants. I think the room is supposed to be sealed instead of having ants pull air off it. Your ants should warm the room while the AC cools it back keeping the set temperature. The room has a problem in that The AC cannot pump air in at the same rate as the Antminers pump it out. Hence why the fans struggle. The AC isn't doing the job, and with that many fans you don't need AC to have a nice breeze. Just open up the vents instead, and hey presto. Also, try to work out a way to pump all that lovely hot air into your home. I'm quite serious. Why waste warmed air and burn fuel to heat your home instead? "The room has a problem in that The AC cannot pump air in..." This AC Unit does not PUMP AIR into rooms, it recirculates the air in the room. It is simple logic going on here, his S3's are blowing air out of the room leaving the room with LESS air aka a vacuum. The S3's exhausts should be blowing inside the room not outside the room. then the AC Unit pulls in the hot air cools it down blowing out cool air. To fix this properly he needs to pull all the s3's forward and close up those exhaust holes. then he needs to figure out the most efficient air flow. the S3's are going to dictate all the air in the room circulates in the direction their back fan are pointing, while the AC Unit is trying to circulate the air outward from it and back in. so the most efficient setup is not having them fight for flow but joining the flow.

Hiya guys,
Im having an issue with one of my Batch 5 ant miner - one side of the ASIC chips are not working correctly - showing all xx's across the board. The others i have work fine, I've opened the machine and everything looks good to my eye!
I have emailed bitmaintech a few times since delivery but no reply, any idea if they will actually reply or should i cut my losses, and ditch this company as a supplier for me?
any help on a fix would be great as i doubt ill have a reply from bit main tech!

Switch out cables inside miner with good ones from other miner. If still problem, switch out controller with good one. If still problem, you have a bad blade. Also tighten screws on heatsink. Bitmain will email telling you what I'm telling you so troubleshoot now and ask for RMA on broken part when they answer. This will be the fastest way. They will have you ship broken part to them and then ship new part to you.

So you'd rather heat the room up, then spend energy cooling it down? That's VERY wasteful. I'd shut down the Air-con, open a window, enjoy the breeze, and then pump the naturally warmed up air from the miners into my house. Thermodynamically it's much more efficient.

Try P2Pool. Like the one in his signature. Starts slow, but it's a really good payoff in the end. Have you resolved your problem?

Here is the asic-freq file I made. I tried to make the wattage close to what you would expect on an 80 Plus Gold power supply. It would be cool if this format could be adopted and expanded upon with additional tested frequencies and re-posted regularly to this thread using the forum code tags. What do you guys think? * Edit: Make sure you convert line endings to Unix format if on windows. I just copied from forum into notepad++ and it showed "carriage returns". I haven't tested this file with windows line endings. I would expect that the forum code tags should retain proper line endings, but alas, they didn't. Not sure if it would make the bitmain scripts puke or not, haven't tested it.. The S3s work great with P2Pool from batch 1 on, no problems. The S1s work great with P2Pool from batch 1 on, no problems. The S2s have a known issue with P2Pool that has not been fixed.

I want to OC my 2 s3. I have corsair RM1000 PSU, it comes with 6+2 PCI cables,i only have 4 cables but both cables have a split at the end and comes with 2x 6 pin at the end, like in this picture : I know i need to power all 4 connectors in the S3 if I want to OC, can i use 1 cable to power 2x6 pin slots ?

I got mine to freq 250. Replaced the intake fan with a personal fan and took off the case. Has 4 cables and replaced most of the thermal paste except on one of the back heat sink(ran out of paste). Made it wireless with old laptop antenna. The room is about 23.3C and the fan rarely goes above 1700.

all steps I did: 1.connect with putty via SSH to the S3 IP adress. 2.log in with l root and p root 3.type : vim /etc/config/asic-freq, the freq page opens 4.I type i on keyboard then hit enter 5.I go comment the 218.75 default value 6.i go uncomment 237.5 value 7.all is good now, i hit ESC and type !wq
all settings are changed, how do i reboot the miner?

Keeping in mind that # is a comment only, wouldn't it be better to have the comment contain hashing speed and expected watts?
