The grue lurks in the darkest places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

We are researching about the difference between X family algo and NIST5, to choose the most ECO, in terms of consumption and energy waste.

We are ready to switch to X13 (or x11).

If u switch to X11 - not asic proof will get over 100 GH but coin will not be valued.
If u switch to X13 - asic proof will get above 50 GH but coin will have more value.

i am voting for X13.
Nist5 sgminer is not perfectly developed, so in my case, fans and temps are not controlled, so i am getting above 100 C degrees on HD58xx/HD59xx.

sorry no idea i have only 280x cards ..

lowest temp with best hashrate (~4.2 mh/s) for my 280x cards ist still x11.
temp with x13 (~3.2mh/s) and x15 (~2.8mh/s) is a little higher
btw. i'm not overclocking ...

edit i would also vote for x13. best compromise so far..

Before jumping from algo to algo, maybe consider that if an algo keeps the gpus cooler that mean that the miners is still not optimized and is not using your gpu full potential.
We saw few modifications for all know "low" temp algos (x11-x99, nist5) and they all bring the temps around scrypt level.
I personally enjoy nist5, cause the original miner keeps the temp of my workstation gpu quite low and I can work/watch movie/ run several VMs while mining.
Of course on my rig I use the optimized miner by djm34 and temp are at 72-75, but with double hash rate.
If you want to run an algo that consumes less energy, scrypt and sha-256 will be your right choice, cause ASICs consume less than GPUs.

But Asic are a specialized HW that not everybody has or want to purchase.

GPU mining is more democratic and orizontal scheme of distribution of coin's mining. It is still profitable for little and medium miners.

wrong. x11 and X13 not bringing temp around scrypt level. it is 30% less temp.
Nist5 is not optimised yet, so for some people works for some doesn't works like it should.
And double hashrate doesn't mean anything 'cos value of the coin will be less by double.

you are not using the right miners for sure ..

I'm just saying they consume less, its up to you which one you'll use.

Maybe.. if there is some private not published miner.
