What's the Appropriate board for large (> 1BTC), non-commercial, ARG puzzles where there is absolutely nothing being promoted? Like: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=661781.0

Would Bitcoin Discussion be appropriate?

I would think that off topic would be appropriate if it does not have anything to do with bitcoin.

If it's bitcoin-related, Bitcoin Discussion might work, otherwise (or if bitcoin isn't the focus of the puzzle) Off-topic would be best. There are already a few forum games going on in Off-topic, so it should probably go there unless there's a significant reason to the contrary.

That makes sense, but it's under Gambling, which ARG puzzles usually aren't. I don't see anything there that doesn't require payment in some form. Any of the suggestions so far could be appropriate, depending on the design and goal of the game.

I think games and rounds would be an ideal board for that. It's the only board that encourages forum-based games. Even though it's a child of the gambling board forum based games are not necessarily gambling.
