Mods don't seem like they're willing to be cooperative. Hell, they avoid even to interact with people in this post anymore. I'm starting to think that there's another reason behind this shady and overly general decision rather than just limiting spam.

I've been following this thread and been thinking this exact same thing.

So it is spam for our exchange to let a thread know we listed them?? Since I had 2 posts deleted I can only assume the answer is yes. How is it spam letting communities know ONE time they are listed on an exchange? Please let me know.

That is f*cking mental! The mods are retarded.

Maybe the real reason they are doing this, is so that lots of coins die and bitcoins stays at the top.

Wow. For the guys suggesting one post per thread, how exactly do you expect us to enforce that? There is no easy way to see how many times someone has posted in a particular thread. Even looking through the post history won't work because you can easily change the subject of a post to hide what thread you're posting in, not to mention that's too time consuming. Also all you'd have to do is delete the old post, since mods can't see deleted posts (and I suspect more than one of you who suggested this knew that).

And yes, you guys are right when listing the problems inherent with using this forum as the sole source of information about an altcoin, along with a thousand other coins. Which is the reason people spam in the first place, because there is no specific board for mining a particular coin, or for services for a coin, or whatever else. The only real answer is to setup coin specific forums, any serious coin will do this. The rest are pump and dumps, or scams that won't be around long enough, and we aren't going to cater to them. We won't setup coin specific boards here either. Spamming is a crutch people have used to get around these limitations, and it's getting out of hand.

That's not our problem really. A blanket ban on all posts pool related isn't the answer though.

You're still not addressing our concerns. We need to be able to give updates about pools in a timely manner. It isn't spam. It's only spam when it's unnecessary and/or repeated many times.

Sure, agreed, it'll be impossible to enforce one post per thread.  Why not allow a single line of text though?

http://new.chickenstrips.net is up and hashing.

That shouldn't shit up the threads as much.  I think the graphics and logos are stupid anyway, I don't think any of the other pools would care either if you said: "no pictures, one line of text, don't spam, or your ass is banned"

An overwhelming majority of people think this new rule is too draconian, they actually want the information from the pool ops etc.  No one gives a shit about logos and pictures, that's spam and I agree it's annoying.

Isn't that why there's the "Report to Moderator" link in the lower right corner of every single post, so we can bring a post to your (the MOD's) attention?  If a pool/exchange/etc is spamming a thread with their service, then it should be up to the users to report said spam, to the MODS, then you can take action.

I think it would take up far less of your time for it to work this way, yes?  I'm guessing right now, to in-force this rule you have to look at every new post on every thread to make sure someone isn't advertising. I'm sure your time could be spent doing much better things.

Wow this is stupid..

Pool operators are going to notify coins when they've added them. Blatant repeating spam sure, but goodluck trying to stop pool operators from letting the coin's community know they've added their coin with a reasonable reply in the thread.

Ridiculous rule is ridiculous.

This is nothing but a money grubbing rule. (They want you to pay for ad-space instead of posting for free. Which btw.. DOESNT WORK because pool operators need to target the individual coins..)

Get your shit together mods.. don't be like that. Please fix this rule.

they're not asking for money, and pool operators are already breaking this rule.  I did twice today already on the legitcoin and onyxcoin threads after other pools posted they were up and hashing, I didn't want to be unnoticed.

Yes they are, doesn't matter if they are doing it directly or not that's how it plays out.

Pool operators have to post in the thread when they add a coin to their pool. That's just how it works.

Seems unfair to legit pools, exchanges, shops, etc. can't advertise their info in the announcements yet scam devs can list new coins daily.  Seriously, BCT should consider offering a premium membership with an annual fee in order to create a new thread topic in the announcements and also to allow pools and businesses to advertise freely. Just a thought.
