Immortals eSports and the Minerals Project have partnered to bring you the Immortals Minerals Invitational, hosted by The Droopytown Network. This is an exciting Starcraft II event featuring six of the best players in the world and an open bracket to give 128 players a chance to play against their favorite pros. The tournament will be supported by a prize pool featuring a lucrative combination of both USD and Minerals.
 
This event will begin at 10:00AM Pacific Daylight Time (UTC -7:00) on Saturday, August 2nd. Coverage will be provided by The Droopytown Network on Twitch.tv with matches casted by Droopy, the caster for Immortals eSports.




The round robin will have the invitees play two matches with each other for a total of 10 games per player. The top four players with the best record will move on to the Round Of 8. Tiebreakers between two players will be best of three, between three players best of 1,  and between four players a GSL round robin will take place.

The open bracket will carry a maximum of 128 players and is open to the public.
REGISTRATIONS ARE OPEN AND FREE - http://challonge.com/IMI. More than 42 players have joined the cause. Don't forget to register.
RO128 and RO64 will be Best Of 1 format, RO32 and RO16 will be Best Of 3, and RO8 will be Best Of 5. The four winners of the Round Of 8 will advance to the 8-player double elimination finals.

I was fortunate to be in the Immortals clan war test earlier. The casters were good, layouts were nice and the betting experience was spot on. Looking forward to this tourney this weekend

What I got from the teaser was that Minerals is being seen by people outside of bitcointalk. Actual real world usage for the coin, not just some scammy 10 line post promising this and that.
Minerals are being used for e sports matches and this first tournament coming up is a debut into the world of e sports.

Payouts are super fast, like instantly after the match finishes and its pretty bloody exciting when you have actual money on the line

And for people who aren't familiar with the StarCraft scene I endeavor them to do a little research on the pro's playing this weekend. These people make a pretty decent living from this and the significance of the Minerals team and the Immortals team to have these players in the tournament is pretty bloody huge.

NEWS UPDATE : Along with IMI and the Minerals development team, two other sponsors in X-Laboratories and CrypTrader have joined to raise a prize pool consisting of US $200 and 50,000 Minerals to be distributed among the players.
