This is really shocking to me. These are the people who are blaming bitcoin for prostitution, drugs, illegal money transfers, fraud, hacking etc and you can see it if you watch any left leaning news show, trust me when I say I have seen it many times and way more on the left leaning places... These people come together and get their story straight, then they all report the same thing in their daily news shows/websites/articles/newspapers.

Talk about committing fraud and getting so many news organizations together on a lie that it seems like the truth because everyone is reporting it. This group is probably responsible for most of the negative things ever said about bitcoin. Remember, the people most against bitcoin are typically democrat/liberal minded, they WANT the government to control everything, ESPECIALLY MONEY.

No suprise there if it is true. The 4th estate abandoned its government watchdog role years ago.

All we need now is a Tom Truong post to explain how this is related to the 13 inbred bloodlines of the illuminati.

Very true. You only need look at who owns most of the media today; it's the GE's, Disney's & other multi nationals of the world. Not coincidently they are also some of the biggest political donators, so they all get their bills passed and agenda forwarded. It becomes a grotesque little dirty circle.

On a reporter-on-the-ground level, journalism hasn't figured out the internet effectively yet. Profits are gone which means less reporters, which leads to articles being written from press releases or just rewrites of other reporters work. Less reporters also equals lack of job security which leads to self censorship. It's a cruel, undeserving death for an important social function.

That's why I hope that something like btc can enable good journos to operate independently and earn a quid.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A prominent CNN commentator, the top two political reporters for The Huffington Post, a Reuters reporter, the editor of The Nation magazine, a producer for Al Jazeera America television, a U.S. News & World Report columnist, and approximately two dozen Huffington Post contributors are among the more than 1,000 members of Gamechanger Salon.

top secretFounded by leftwing activist Billy Wimsatt, the group is a secretive digital gathering of writers, opinion leaders, activists and political hands who share information, ideas and strategy via a closed Google group....

Disturbing, but really not a big surprise.

Isn't sharing resources and tips a fairly common and harmless practice amongst journalists?

Ok so I looked at all the stuff you just posted on here, I am not really sure what any of this is supposed to mean to me though??? So you found something that archived what this guy was saying/doing is what you are telling us with this? It doesn't really have much on it so I am unsure of how to interrupt this or what context to apply this to, are you saying this is some of their secret conversations that got auto archived and they don't know we can see it?

I just found it odd that Billy Wimsatt follows, and is following ONLY one person that's connected to Ted Nelson who once espoused that he knew who Satoshi Nakamoto is.

But is this really connected to Bitcoin in this case? Are they bought by people who profit from anti-BTC lobbying? I'm not really sure whether to put this in the 'wow, holy crap!' category or in the tinfoil-hat one...

Yeah, speaking of FUD, not all left-leaning people are against Bitcoin.  That's a gross generalisation at best and a display of downright ignorance at worst.  I'm extremely socially liberal and quite left wing in terms of economic views, yet I love the idea of Bitcoin.  Lack of understanding and poorly researched articles about crypto come from all corners of the political spectrum, so let's not make out like this is some overly simplistic left-vs-right thing when it isn't.

Ok, if you have been paying attention for the past ever, you will see that government likes to gain control of things and run things. The right side more likes to control military spending/defense and promotes private business a lot as a general rule. I haven't met anyone yet on the far right or moderate right or center right or whatever kind of the right spectrum that had any problems with bitconi because it is a private protocol someone made and thats the nature of what most of these people stand for.

However, watching any left ring/left wing moderate news or reading their articles or their websites you will see they like to control many things dealing with fiscal policy. As a general rule the right side wants less regulation on banking and monetary policy in general. The left wants to control down to a pinpoint, wants new taxes, and has CONSTANTLY lobbied against Bitcoin. They still are mostly against it and there are only a few I have seen that like it(generally). All I really see is conservatives/repubs/libertarians/tea party who are in favor of it for the most part.

For you to call me out on being "absolute" tells me that's how you see things, and I don't like being insulted in that regard. Anyone who is absolute about something isn't very open minded. Notice how I said "very" I leave room for error. I also wasn't absolute in what you quoted.

Well that's scary.

Even though our journalism and press is free in the U.S., it can still be manipulated and controlled by private organizations. You have to look through all the crap to find the truth nowadays.

It's hardly my fault your OP sounds like an attempt at a witch hunt, so you'll have to forgive me if I'm getting the wrong impression here.  You're linking to an article which makes it sound as though there's some sort of left-wing conspiracy to manipulate the media and simultaneously saying "These are the people who are blaming bitcoin for yadda, yadda, yadda" and haven't cited any sources for the claims that these people are responsible for the FUD.  All I'm saying is that there have been plenty of poorly researched articles from right wing sources like Fox or the Daily Mail which also babble on incessantly about drugs and money laundering.  Similarly, I've seen plenty of articles from left leaning sources which are highly positive about cryptocurrency.  Call out the FUD where you see it, by all means, but you'll have to state your case in a little more detail if you want to convince people that some shady, secretive group are out to destroy Bitcoin like the OP seems to imply they are.

Disturbing, but really not a big surprise.

Thought that people who do this level of conspiracy would be clever than that.

Anyway, this is not a surprise.

See the mainstream media, all the opinions and news are too close to be just for chance, they had to have some kind of coordination.

Not surprised at all.

It's always the same response, every time someone says to me Bitcoin is used for illegal activities I tell them it's no different than what cash can be used for. Heck, Bitcoin wasn't even designed to be anonymous, it's all on a public ledger. Difference between anonymous and pseudonymous.

The mass media is the same way regarding conservative politicians and ideas. I am not at all surprised that journalists want to stop bitcoin from succeeding. Bitcoin is very much against liberal ideals as it takes away power from the government and forces the government to be a smaller, more appropriate size.

completely based on official talking points and structured
