Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Forum moderators and staff are quite active here and respond to questions fairly quickly (as evidenced by Badbear's reply within a minute of your post, which is rather impressive), and there's no need for a dedicated ambassador to communicate with the bitcoin community outside bitcointalk, so I'm not sure what an ambassador would provide that isn't already covered by the current staff.
