In reading what was happening, I thought maybe they just got shutdown by Amazon, but it looks like with the wallet activity, they likely made a break for it.

Notified them about this error message a few weeks ago, was fixed quickly on dice.ninja Still, I'm quite broke now, most coins are gone. Ouch. |

The cold wallet obfuscation was an obsolute red flag.
Some posts above suggest that having provable funds is more important than solving the "coinbase issue" (assuming this
was a true story...). These posts were better than just happily accept the excuse, but still an euphemism.
Having provable funds is completely dominating a "coinbase issue".
I believe you must be invested in, if you are a reasonably experienced bitcoiner and you don't realize how bad of a red flag it is, sufficient to withdraw funds immediately.
I'm not saying anybody is guilty or deserve it, just that psychology must be at play here, because if you look at this being not involved or particularly following the story, it was a truly ridiculous excuse.

Monero's privacy and therefore fungibility are MUCH stronger than Bitcoin's. This makes Monero a better candidate to deserve the term "digital cash".

Would it really have made any difference if the funds remained in the "provable" 1Ninja address? The coins could still be there even now and we wouldn't be able to anything about it anyway. To answer my own question to some extent, there's one hypothetical issue - when they moved the coins out of the vanity address the site suddenly started winning and the bankroll increased by 50%+ IIRC, so that could have been a fake boost to lure more investors in before running. But that's just speculation, and a risky strategy anyway. They could have just taken the 1500+ BTC they had before the boost and without risking to raise any red flags in advance. |
