Only if I can put it up for adoption immediately afterward.
I didn't get a vasectomy cause I wanted humanspawn in my life.
Classic quote, that made me laugh. Satoshi may be a common name in Japan but it's a nice name. Better that some of the stupid names celebrities come up with for there kids. Laqisha.

Dood, I would change my name, my kids name and my girlfriends name (well, Id call her that if she didnt sign the papers;) for 150 BTC. Is the guy forking up the BTC nuts or what? Its not like getting a name tattooed on you... http://www.adweek.com/adfreak/reebok-offers-1-year-crossfit-sponsorship-whoever-gets-biggest-reebok-tattoo-159503Just dont mention it to anyone and theyd still call you your real name anyway. Not sure how my of my friends and family know my full legal name (like middle name for example). edit: Ah ok, didnt notice it was a fund raiser. in that case - good luck to them, i wouldnt be hopeful theyll get the BTC. Maybe 10...

This could be a very lucrative income strategy for people in Japan They may even have considered this to begin with. I personally wouldn't do it. Not because Satoshi was a bad name, but I simply wouldn't do this for money. At least not that small a sum

I think it is not a problem. I will do it for my son's future. I will not spend 1 btc of it. It would be for his college tuition and for his life. 1 Bitcoin could be worth 100k or more when my son grow up.

Well the same Satoshi is okay if you ask me. I seriously doubt that you will get funding for this. This is a lot of money. I'm not sure actually. As much as I support Satoshi and Bitcoin, selling my (future) childrens name seems wrong? "we will name her Satoshi Bitcoin". That would be interesting.

I would consider it if I would be Japanese. But I would never give my baby a certain name only because I can profit from it.
You have to know that the baby will have this name his entire life. Choosing a name that is likely to be ridiculed can have a huge negative impact. I would not want to answer the question of my son why I gave him that name with "I got 150 Bitcoins for it".

No way, that's like calling him 'money' or 'coca cola'. While the money could be used to have a positive effect on his life, how the child feels about their parents is even more important. It's the parents responsibility to provide for the child. If I were named Satoshi as a part of a calculated deal like this I imagine I would feel as though my parents valued money over the 'heart', calculation over feeling. Something as vital and sacred as the parent-child relationship shouldn't be twisted like this. It's not like we're living in an irradiated wasteland and this is the only way out for the child.
Having said that I am from a reasonably privileged background compared to most of the world. If I was living in a slum and this was a way to get my child out I would seriously consider it. I'd probably do it if my situation was bad enough.

Giving a child a name like that because you can profit from it is not an instance of being financially smart but being greedy, imagine a world where product paid for names, there would be little McDonalds and Tacobells running around everywhere. It is a real first name. If I met a Western looking child with a Japanese first name I would just assume he was born over there (maybe his parents were on an expat assignment).
