Now, does anyone have gold for trade? Not a lot of it or anything, couple hundo worth maybe?
Also, do i get a trust rating now since i have made a trade?
What are you looking for in terms of AU? It depends on the weights of the pieces available. If there are any in the 100 ish range, two of those. I can do a 2014 sealed 50 Yuan Gold Panda. It is 1/10th troy ounce AU. It will run 86 UNO. I cannot ship it until this Friday (two days from now), however. Please PM me if interested.

Mark, what happened with USPS is my local postal employee made me send the AG certified mail which requires the recipient to personally sign for the article. Unfortunately, vector was not around at delivery time and then the local post had misplaced the item. Typical of a government agency. In the future, I will refuse to send that way. Fortunately, in my trader with Sirsmokesalot, Priority Mail was the method and there were no issues whatsoever. I believe that I am on the cusp of the first AU deal and will provide shipping details after the trade is completed. Cheers!

Woo hoo! Looking forward to receiving my 1/10 Troy Ounce .999 Gold 50 Yuan panda from BitcoinCharlie As far as mailing is concerned. Certified mail was incorrect, i don't believe there is ANY insurance built into that product. Priority mail with tracking has a built in insurance of like 50 bucks or something. You can buy domestic insurance for up to 250 dollars, black label, which does not require a signature. Signatures are required to prove delivery happened in a lot of cases. There is a blue label for insurance, international is what it says i think. That is up to 500 dollars and requires a signature upon delivery. So the clerk was not wholly incorrect with selling you the certified mail as it comes with a signature and you can get a return receipt. Although i think you can toss a return receipt on a lot of different things, i would ask the clerk about that one, maybe a diff clerk than the one who told you to go cert though Registered mail is the safest bet, not the quickest, but i don't think regs ever "get lost" in the mail. They are signed for portal to portal and someone is held accountable for them at every step of the process. I am not a clerk so i am not 100%, but i try to learn as much as i can about the products my employer offers. I think priority mail is the best bet for the most part.

You might get an all-gold carriage from the nappy queen of England. Pawned by Scotland? (I think she just got a new one, anyway, but could be mistaken.) Pay in UNO!

@ Benefactor and Sirsmokes: yeh, we're on the right track with the 'national-info' thing. It was not at all easy to figure out the relationship between Perth Bullion and Australia Post; but I did, and it will serve us well. Aus Post is crackajack. By the time we can buy bullion in crypto, and have it insured in the mail, we will be humming. @ heads up on Pandacoin: no, I'm not a closet Pandacoin troll -- watch this. Surely there is something to learn about our strategy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNBn5jPuyEAm

@ V500: I am still learning by the minute. I imagine that escrow will be very helpful, later, when we are establishing Outsiders as TTs (and UNO community members!). Those who have established T.T. status here won't generally need it ; but as we expand The Bullion Thing, it should be invaluable --?
And do you want a link on Un-Ex to Escrow V500?
m
i think escrow makes sense in case you trade with someone who you don't know/trust or in case of larger trades. As this exchange becomes more known and established scammers could try their luck over time on the thread. Escrow helps reducing the attack-vector, i think. Thought there could be demand for escrow sometimes in the future. Enables potential larger trades too after my escrow is trusted. Sure you can link it. I could think about offering confidential trades too, where buyer/seller just messages me and i announce it for them on the thread so they don't need to be public about their trades. That could also be possible. Anonymous trading ads another usecase.

re: escrow
yes, I haven't earned my stars just yet. but someday I hope to just mostly trade here in house. [[quietly establishing branch divisions of UNO Industries at the moment]]
ripple was based on the Trust chain model. For them it is a clusterFk, but for In-House it might just do the trick. A trust B. B trusts C and C trusts B. How does C trade with A?
So I hope the standard In-House custom is free escrow once a 'common' friendly link can be identified.
If the exchange grows and grows then maybe a move towards secured bonds (for the new guy) held by long standing fellows. The 'halo' model of BC/NXT is a good method too. And the EZ way --> parse it out. [in the end it will be whatever becomes that's the way it is done around here].
On the first one, Trust chain model, by default we can pledge / underwriting each other. I already have moved in that direction. So if I say Mr.X is cool for 5kg, and you can prove he did you wrong. Then I will cover your loss up to 5kg. Old school rules.

With personal trust relationships when someone screws you they screw the community and the community can punish said screwer appropriately. If a butcher sells bad meat you don't buy from him. Doesn't mean much in a busy city but in a small town, in a small intimate trust environment... you don't shit where you eat.
It's a concept that seems lost on the internet, however with the right community it can thrive.

Guys - don't forget the simple principle that the more experienced trader, with the more stars/trades/amount traded is the one with seniority. Our tradition should clearly be that the newbies send their trustless transaction first. Then, the one with the reputation and livelihood sends theirs. This is further facilitated by making the addresses public, although anonymity is another option, (or escrow, or anonymous escrow.) When the senior trader clearly gets a claimed payment in their public address, and the novice trader posts the address to send to, it's clear when the reputed trader sends the return payment.*
*Caveat - (sorry for pointing this out, but...) on BCT, all posts can be edited, so this is not yet a perfect system. There are quite a few solutions, but we aren't there, yet. One simple solution, also not perfect, is for the experienced trader to quote novice trader's post with their send address (although that could be changed and disputed, too.) (If a 3rd party quotes it, too, that would be helpful, but maybe a little annoying with too many posts.)
At some point, we can develop technology to post details right on the blockchain in messages or something, and we should probably move off to a different forum/website eventually. (All IMHO.)

BitcoinNational beat me to the underwriting principle, but I would have just used the unsophisticated term 'insurance'.
Another great idea with that trust chain model! Good job!
