I'm more interested in the concept/community part of it than anything else. Bitcoin has brought together an amazingly diverse mixture of people from all over the world in a way seldom seen before.

It was the concept and the technology that drew me to it, but I also see the potential in it as an investment, so would like to see it grow in that respect. Of course I am. Of course you are what? There's two options, but I'm going to guess it's the latter for you.

More the concept than getting rich, though I wouldn't complain if I manage to make a few extra satoshis People who are just holding btc to cash out at a later date will feel the most pain financially. Fiat is dead.

Fiat is dead. Maybe they don't want to just cash out? I'd like to hold my coins not to cash out to fiat but so I can actually buy things with it or pay my bills in it etc. I'd really like to be able to just live off btc as opposed to fiat.

lol +1 The money aspect of Bitcoin is only a marginal aspect of the whole frame. We are already seeing its sidechain applications being explored and this is only the beginning.

Purely the concept the tech behind it and the potential it entices. Although I do find the speculation and drama about the price fluctuation to be quite amusing(sure beats soap opera aka The WWE ), not that I'm going to participate in trading aspect of it.

That's pretty much what I hope for in the future, a fiat free life would be immense but I we've got a long way to go yet before that day comes. Soon as you can pay for food:utilities:insurance etc in btc, I'll be saying buh byeee to fiat for good.

You're right, it is a long way away if ever but maybe if we hold our coins for long enough we maybe able to live off them in the future. Maybe 100 coins would be enough to live comfortably for the rest of your life if it hits the mainstream and the price shoots up because of it. That's why I want to get my hands on as many coins as I can now just in case .

I'm in Bitcoin because of the fact that I own my money and I can use it the way I want.
And also that I don't need to explain to my bank for what reason I want to withdraw a few thousand euros.

Owning bitcoin is no longer a path to great wealth. People who buy now may find a quick path to poverty.

How can you be certain. Only time will tell, but if bitcoin reaches it's potential I think people who even buy in now could possibly become very wealthy. If bitcoin gains full mainstream adoption it is very likely. The question is if and when will that happen?

If "concept" means the programming and the idea, then no. If it means being able to bypass the banks, then yes. As far as rich, you really have to want to get rich to be able to do it. I am not that forceful in my desire to be rich. There are disadvantages to being rich.

I dont see why not. We all work and do something with BTC or any altcoin. So we can invest and make money in same time.
