Cisco ASA 5500-X

That's a hardware firewall, not an antivirus software.

kaspersky wins (even 30 day free trials useful when it expired just dont update) plus look around you can buy a key from some computer shops for a few £

McAfee was good but the US government got involved for some reason, at the same time Mr. McAfee left the company which rings alarm bells
Norton is just to bloated and misses some simple stuff
Avast well its free which is good but it does miss a hell of alot of stuff

Using AVG anti-virus. But the best anti-virus is still don't download anything before scanning it online (at least before you open the file).

anyone knows how Windows Defender is doing ?
I heard even as being Windows it may not be that bad.
I guess anyway the best antivirus is between the keyboard and the desk...

I have to recommend Avira, used it with very good results. Never found a virus on my computer with another antivirus scan while using Avira. A few adwares though, 2-4 every year but they have been harmless.

Which antivirus should i buy guys? The safest and the most protective of all. Must include all things Internet security Anti Malware etc.

Linux

that's an operating system

That's the point. An OS should be lean without any bloated features that causing all kinds of security problems. Then, you don't need the software called "anti-virus".

Malwarebytes occasionally. Having used Avast and AVG in the past as well as a bunch others, mbam is all that is needed if there is ever a problem. Some specific problems would need to be fixed by a tool that you can run in safe mode, but it's been a while since I did that.  Smiley Just be safe about what you put onto your computer, and you won't need antivirus!

Free avast + malwarebytes is good enough. And also always be vigilant. Dont open any potential exe files in your main pc use virtual pc.

@harkonnen there are also virus and other malware for Linux lol, they are just not very common.

@meowball something can still get past : / it's safer to have an antivirus than not.

Yes, there are viruses on Linux. There are many flaws in Linux, too. But Linux won't let you infected by viewing a webpage. An user must be tricked to download a malicious code, and execute it manually.
Plus, Linux has stronger protection against infected regular(unprivileged) user account.
With the other guy, you will not survive a second online.

I think Avira is one of best anti virus software ever made for Windows. For Linux machines - ClamWin.
