most antivir is shit. What people suggest here is 90% shit.

Outpost is ok.
Kaspersky is ok.

a real good antivir does not exist as far as i know.

Many antivir are malware themselves like Mcaffee and some others.

I don't think Mcaffe contains malware. No reputed computer companies would promote a malware. Roll Eyes

I use Avira as virus scanner and Malwarebytes to protect from malware.

Actually, virus is malware. Grin

Why don't you try Avast free antivirus. I used both and Avast is better according to my view. And, ofcourse, views differ from persons to persons.

You can install MalwareBytes with it. It is free and gives extra layer of security. Smiley

mcaffee comes with toolbar and can't be uninstalled. It's spyware of the first order. What you think about 'reputed companies' is irrelevant.

I use Avira as virus scanner and Malwarebytes to protect from malware.

avira does nothing

On most McAfee software installs if you use the Custom option you can refuse SiteAdvisor, likewise you can uninstall just SiteAdvisor by selecting the McAfee item in Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a Program (Add or Remove Programs in XP)  then selecting just SiteAdvisor for removal.

Kaspersky

Kaspersky Lab ranks fourth in the global ranking of antivirus vendors. It was the first Russian company to be included into the rating of the world’s leading software companies, called the Software Top 100 (79th on the list, as of 6/29/2012).

Best antivirus IMO is Kaspersky, there system for registration is difficult to use "for free" but the program itself is good.

Kaspersky is a great antivirus, but for a normal user, searching for a good free product Avast does the trick
