There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Not too cheap, but looking at getting it traded with other coins for coins on my wish list. I also wanna get it graded, but having to ship it across the globe to get it graded is gonna be expensive.

What sold me, besides the awesome looks, is that the bolts that holds the private keys are heat treated such that you won't be able open it unless you heat the bolts  to 500 degrees or physically bash it open, which looks pretty painful to do.

Kinda reminds me of a physical crypto "safe"

I placed my order with Kialara the first day.  I wrote him several times with no response.  I finally got mine in the other day.  I would say he will most likely send out the outstanding orders, in the order of when they were placed, but he may be ignoring all emails.

The bars are very unique and feel more like a work of art with all the layers of metalwork in the coin.

I have to take a break for a week or two on buying physical cryptos, as I have bought 1 or more of 12 different coins varying in price over the past few weeks, and have bills and Christmas coming up.
However, I am still looking for several coins to add to my collection. Essentially everything I don't already have  (Tongue I wish), but a few specifics I'm looking for are:

MicroSoul funded 0.01 and 0.05 BTC
Cold Hard Cash 0.999 Silver Bitcoin Specie
Kialara 100,000 bits
f*d 24K gold plated silver 10 Peercoins
Any cheaper Casascius coins (at this point in time I would probably only be able to afford the premium on a 0.10 BTC coin, or possibly a spent/redeemed coin to start with Casascius BTC)

If you have any of these or have some good leads, feel free to post or PM me about them. At the moment they would have to be reasonable prices, but I'm open to hearing all offers for near future buys.

Also open to other sweet crypto coins, and any rare coins, small projects' coins, older coins, and non wallet-style coins ( <- Ex. cheap BTC copper promo rounds, BTC designed precious metal coins, etc.)

Thanks

All minted coins have a premium on top of the face value.
The premium can variate greatly depending on the coin, there are many factors such as: rarity, condition/grading, metal value ect.

I was selling physical DOGE coins earlier here on the forum, they sold for around 0.05 BTC, face value was 10000 DOGE (~ 0.01 at that time), than means that the premium was 0.04 BTC.

Cryptography is one of the few things you can truly trust.

Looking to trade:

1 Casascius bearer bar in original wrap

for

loaded Lealana 25LTC piece (non-buyer funded) + 2 0.1 lealana brass tenth loaded (non-buyer funded)

negotiable of course.

Is a loaded Lealana coin really worth less than an unloaded Casascius bearer bar?

Well, when I put up offers like these I usually push my luck a bit. But some of these go for 400$ on ebay, and around 1.8BTC here. And I'd say the price of a 25LTC would be 1.1 - 1.2BTC or so. I guess I could be wrong about the 25LTC price, but LTC itself has gone down significantly.

Just want to add, that the 25 LTC is relative rare (less than 500 I belive?) and in my opinion the most beautiful of all the Lealana coins, 1.1-1.2 is definitely realistic, would even consider buying it from you Wink

Cryptography is one of the few things you can truly trust.

Is there a thread where people can ask for price checks of physical crypto coins or a place that has the average prices listed? I'd like to see one as it'd make it easier for people to agree on a price. Most crypto coins don't have a large enough market to determine the exact value of them.

Agreed. There are so many times where someone has a coin on offer and I have no clue what to bid.

Agreed. There are so many times where someone has a coin on offer and I have no clue what to bid.

I've tried to get people to agree on a stable valuation for the different coins, but honestly it's not realistic. It's not right to control prices like that. It's all about what a buyer and a seller agree upon. Personally I believe a 2-3x valuation is appropriate for a loaded Casascius coin in mint condition. You're paying 1x for the face value of the coin and 1-2x for the numismatic value that is "Casascius".

There is some information you can use to help you understand what to bid, based on the size of the mintage (some coins have lower mint numbers and therefore are more rare). You also want to consider the condition of the coin.

This is the most concise source I've used: http://www.spotcoins.com/bitcoin/casascius

I think it's be appropriate so the seller isn't getting scammed out of their money and they have a ballpark estimate of what the coin is worth and they can use that base price as a guideline whether they want to pay higher or lower for it. It's really easy to just claim a price on a coin or collectible and someone will pay or sell at that price because they are misinformed of the actual item and the seller or buyer knows that and takes advantage of them.

Are you looking to sell for 2x face value or what

I see this often enough that I feel like I need to address it.

The value of a collectible coin doesn't have anything to do with its face value.

"2x face value", etc, is simply not how coins are priced, and it doesn't make sense to say things like this.

Here's how a coin is priced:

<intrinsic value> + <numismatic value> + <seller's premium> = <price of coin>

For bullion coins, like Krugerrands or silver Maple Leafs, the intrinsic value is the value of the metal. For a Casascius coin, the intrinsic value is the face value plus the value of any precious metals.

The numismatic value is the amount of additional money the coin would fetch, based on its rarity or desirability as a collectible.

The seller's premium is the profit margin of the seller.

Note how there are no multiplication (x) symbols in the above equation; only plus (+) symbols.

Using the "?x face value" system does nothing but help people with high-face value coins rip off the general coin-buying public. "Buy my 10btc coin for 30btc -- only 3x face value! It's just like getting an 0.5btc coin for 1.5btc!" -- this glosses over the fact that the seller is asking a TWENTY BTC PREMIUM for a coin that's not even one of the most rare Casascius coins. Think about that. Even at today's exchange rates, that's a TWELVE THOUSAND DOLLAR premium. For a privately-minted round issued in 2013.

Go into a coin store and tell them about this, watch their jaw hit the floor.

Something to think about Smiley

This "x face value" gibberish is one of the more enduring stupidities around this place (no offense, possum...)

Price guides + becketts are the reason people are informed of the price of collectibles. They arent only used for trading guidance either but a number of other things. Without price guides the exact situation would happen as it is here where people are confused on the price of something and then they get ripped off. It's hard to put prices on crypto coins because of the limited market for them but there is a ball park estimate of what each coin is worth.

It's a free market, I don't think anybody is "scammed" or ripped off if they voluntarily buy something- no one forced them to buy it. A collectible item is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Obviously people are going to try and get the most money they can when selling their items- because life costs money and they're trying to make money. If I'm selling a Casascius coin and someone offers me 2BTC and another person offers me 3BTC, who do you think I would sell it to? The person paying 3BTC obviously. Now if someone said- "3BTC is too much for me to pay for a Casascius coin, I think I'm going to look other places for a better price," then good for them- that is their choice and their option to do so as a consumer in a free market. No one held a gun to their head and forced them to buy that coin for 3BTC.

Just my opinion.

Fair enough, you're right on both counts. These things are harder to price than bitcoins themselves Cool

Mine must be the Kialara 2015 Labyrinth. That coin is so beautiful and it has a nice game included with small balls. I also love the St. Petersburg Casacius. I can't remember the name on this other coin but it is 1 Troy Ounce of gold and has 1 Bitcoin loaded. I dont if it was a lealana or what.

Physical coins tend to sell at a preimum here above what they sell for directly from the manufacturer. the price on their website is not that much above the value of the Bitcoin they come loaded with plus the value of the precious metal that makes up the coin.

They do. There are lots of knockoffs on Ebay now with the same design but they don't attempt to pass themselves off as genuine.

Like I said physical coins tend to sell for a preimum not a discount on the secondary market. And yes they come loaded with the face value of the coin.

Well to my knowledge I own the only Casascius 2013 Silver + Gold MS-68 coins. I have 3 x MS-68 from ANACS, and might consider selling just 1 depending on the offer. I really doubt we will see any more 68's at this point... so offers better be amazing or do not bother. Feel free to PM me if you are interested.

You have Cas coins at MS-68? When did you get them? I thought the only MS-68 Casascius coin was the one Cyclops sold.

Mike Caldwell sold casascius coins from 2011 up until 2013 (when he stopped selling funded coins). You need to send your coins to ANACS to get your coins graded, and whoever send them a coin that receives a high grade will obviously be able to sell if it they wish.

Thanks for explaining. I'm aware of Mike and how to get coins graded. I'm just curious when these coins were graded and how long he's had these MS-68s. Smiley

I've been looking for a nicely priced Lealana 5 LTC to pick up for a little while now, if you could do one for a decent price I'd be interested. I still need a 10 and 25 LTC as well, they're probably just not in my budget right now. I also have some coins for trade instead of or in addition to BTC.

All of my coins are lacking the 'buyer funded' hologram and none of them are redeemed. Pics/addresses/txid of funding tx (and signed message of the funding inputs) are available upon request

You can make me an offer if you like.

I've got a single 5 LTC lealana that isn't part of any set. It's the 2013 version with the black address font.
I'd be more hesitant selling my 10 and 25 LTC coins because it took me a while to find them.
I don't mind selling or trading. I'm open to offers.

Quickseller sounds like you'd be the one to talk to about the Lealana 5, 10, and 25 LTCs for sure. Miffman I would love that MS-64 5 LTC you've got, but saw you were mostly looking for BTC at the moment, while I would be looking to trade mostly and also have a little BTC I could throw in too. I'll just go ahead and put out there an updated list of what I'm looking for and what I'm willing to trade, but I would consider offers from you guys first to be fair.

Looking to add to my collection now or eventually:
Kialara 1st Gen.
Kialara 2nd Gen.
Lealana 5 LTC
Lealana 10 LTC

Lealana 25 LTC
More common Casascius coins (lower premium)
Cryptolator LE Silver
MicroSoul 0.05BTC Silver
Probably one of those St. Petersburg coins, knew I should have bought one back then but Christmas for the fam. had me maxed out on spending.

What I would be willing to trade:  (Will trade multiple coins + BTC for single higher valued coins)
Crypto Imperator 10,000 Dogecoin - Funded - normal edition (not LE/DIY)
Titan Tenth - Funded - LE/COA/Leatherette
Cryptolator Copper - LE/COA/Leatherette
bhcoins Series 3 - LE/COA
MicroSoul 2013 - Funded - LE
MicroSoul 2014 - Funded - LE

RavenBit Node - LE#08
Serpcoin DIY2
Non-Crypto coins:
Bitcoin Suisse AG "Demo" Certificate (a few were given out with early orders)
Some very nice Silver NORFED LD rounds - varying years/sizes

All coins are in mint condition straight from the makers and have never been handled, so I would be looking for fair trade values. All of them are in Airtites/capsules except for the MicroSoul. Have many more crypto coins, old gov. silver coins, new silver rounds, and even a few old/rare fiat bills, but would most likely only dig into these if a very sweet offer came up and I needed to throw in more value.

Not really interested in selling any at the moment, purely interested in some nice crypto coin trading to fill in empty spots in my collection (& feed my addiction Wink ). I will probably list some silver Norfed LD rounds & other silver rounds for sale for BTC at some point though.

EDIT: I added a little more to both lists. Also, random but related, I need fitting Airtites for a 2012 Casascius 5 BTC, a 2011 Casascius 1 BTC, and MicroSoul 2013 & 2014. If anybody has any and would sell a couple let me know and I would appreciate it.

<DUPLICATED POST FROM ANOTHER THREAD, BUT JUST TRYING TO SPREAD THE WORD>

I have just recieved a new grading form from ANACS. They wont be publishing it on their website for a week or 2, but they have given me the green light to share here. Its been talked about for a little while, but it has finally happened.

Its a bit special, in that they are recognising the physical crypto coins as their own distinct category on the submission forms. Thats a real step forward in my eyes ... mainstream here we come

I cant let it pass without restating what a shame it is that ANACS will give us our own section, but the forum wont. (Mods, please take note)

I have put a copy of the form on PDFy
https://pdf.yt/d/vA7tlh6CBIvV23PJ
You can download, or print straight from there

The ANACS office manager has said
"They decided to go with the verbiage of “Physical Cryptocurrency” instead of “Private tokens and medals”, however these are the changes we discussed previously.  Max value of $100 per token. The only additional change is a max submission value for international orders of $5000.  Meaning the total value for the entire submission is capped at $5000 in insurance value."

Any discounted rates negotiated previously will also be honoured. But having a 'base rate' of $19 is also positive for submitting lower numbers of coins

Please feel free to use this, share this, and reference it in any other threads. Lets get this form out to those of us who do submit coins, return some of the faith that ANACS have placed in physical crypto.

It will be really interesting to see if given this change by ANACS, if any of the other big grading organisations take note, and reconsider their stance wrt cryptocoins
