Does not Theymos or Gavin have control to this sourceforge repository ? Its now pointing to an insane website buttcoin.org !!! Its good if it can be restored fast and care taken to secure the Github repository.
"Satoshi" removed the other maintainers. The SourceForge administrators will need to fix it. There's no particular risk to the Github repository. Satoshi doesn't have any special access there. While commits can be reverted, the binary at sourceforce can be temporarily replaced with a tampered one. It has not been updated for now, but it is a possibility. I don't know the rate of downloads, but still is worth considering. |

I think it's a hacker who owns a large amount of Bitcoin himself and doesn't wish to actually hurt bitcoin, as he could of done truly worse things...like pretend that satoshi was going to sell off his bitcoins which would cause a immense price drop. If he does own a lot he could also have pretended to be Satoshi and released a message that destroyed the private keys to 99% of his mined Bitcoin. Instantly the price would have spiked up quite violently. |

The new "Satoshi" has asked for coins from theymos and then gone rampant to vandalize Sourceforge repo out of frustration. He's trying to take down the price as much as possible and buy as much as possible. Rise and Rise of Bitcoin is going to release by the end of this year and we'll see a price rally after that. So everyone, get as much coins as possible in your pocket when it is cheap. |
