Mars One candidate, Heidi Hecht, is looking to finance her Mars travel expenses using Bitcoin. Today, on Reddit, she posted a link to her StartJoin fund raising page which features the above video.

According to her StartJoin description, Heidi strives to become the first Mars cosmonaut to fund her trip entirely in Bitcoin. If her name is drawn to be on the first mission, she would depart earth in 2024 and arrive on her new planetary home sometime in 2025.

Mars One is a non-profit organization based in the Netherlands that has put forward conceptual plans to establish a permanent human colony on Mars by 2025. Mars One’s current concept includes launching four carefully selected applicants in a Mars-bound spaceflight in 2024, to become the first residents of Mars, and have every step of the crew’s journey documented for a reality television program.

StartJoin, launched in February 2014, is a crowd funding technology platform that accepts cryptocurrencies like Maxcoin (MAX), and Bitcoin (BTC), in addition to traditional fiat payment methods.

There is a theory that people with Aspergers are actually highly evolved crystal children with abilities beyond our understanding.

You really need to work on your speeches. Your video is almost 5 minutes long, but the entire content you presented is just around 30-40 seconds, had you actually read a bit slower and not advertised.

Expensive trip... but one that is pretty much guaranteed to happen. Bitcoin however won't be the facilitator here, rather generous donations from people with too much money... why people give to her rather than a charity that saves lives or does essential research amazes me.

Why waste money to go on Mars? Scientists have already researched and provided enough proof that it is in fact a dead planet and there can't be a life there in future.

Why did you make two posts on the same subject? Can a mod merge them, close one, or something?

It is not a good idea nowadays. The situation there is tough for human to live. Daily necessities have to be sent from earth. Probably in the future the technology is advantaged enough. The human will build suitable base on mars like earth.

IIRC Neil deGrasse Tyson or a guest said on StarTalk that our moon is sort of a space debris magnet that has saved earth from many impacts.

Saying that you don't trust someone because of their behavior is completely valid.

You could say that to Lazslo also. Why buy 10000 BTC pizza. But he got written in history and everyone 1000 years from now will talk about him.

You can be super intelligent and still be terrified of being on camera. I thought she looked more like she had stage fright.

I have to admit something like this could have great results in the long run. Not too sure why people are complaining about donating if it helps her achieve her dream and potentially find out more.

This is the video that my sister Anna did for her journalism class. Basically she had to do a mini-documentary and this is the video she got an A on. (Good job, Sis!) Me and Mars One.

Where do we look to confirm this ?
