I've seen some really weird shit flying in the sky, used to live fairly close to a military base so I kinda assumed they could be some experimental gov technology type stuff. Do find it hard to believe we're the only 'intelligent' life in the universe.

Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson's argument about the cop who was watching venus completely contradicts his entire argument on why people's eyewitness testimonies are not accurate. If he was sticking to his own definitions and requirements of evidence, then the cop in the car is still an unsolved mystery - yet in his mind its solved.  There is no physical evidence that proves there was not an actual UFO in the same area of the sky as Venus and was going back and forth. He is just claiming his argument & story is better then other arguments & stories. He's a tool. Or for you academics - a hypocrite.

It proves me point though, it's an actual bit of something from space that can be verified down to the molecule, that's how you actually prove whether aliens exist or not, so much stuff is very easy to fake now, I mean, we're even capable of making artificially grown diamonds now, luckily though because of our obsession with precision and perfection that also works against us because anything organic usually has a form of randomness to it.

That's actually also how you spot fake gemstones by the way, fractures and weird patterns/shapes are a more likely indicator of a real gemstone.

Your "Dr." goes through explaining how people who claim to have been abducted should just distract the alien for a second and reach up and grab something off of the UFO and I am the one with logic issues?  

The point is he sits there in the video and explains how something has to be tested & verified in a lab before he can accept it as truth. But he is more than willing to accept circumstantial evidence when it supports his perception of normal. He wants an ash tray or something physical from a UFO but is willing to accept the fact that Venus was in the vicinity of that portion of the sky the night of the incident and the road was windy, so we must accept that what he saw was Venus. I say Hypocrite. And I am not implying that it wasn't Venus, just that he is willing to accept sub-par evidence to support his theory, but can't accept sub-par evidence to support someone elses theory. And make no mistake, both are theories. By this guys own definition, neither should be accepted as scientific evidence. But again, he accepts one of them as scientific evidence because it makes sense to him.

In addition to this, his whole cookie cutter explanation of how UFO sightings go is not accurate for MOST of the cases out there that cannot be easily debunked as fake. In most of these cases that should be considered credible, there isn't just a sighting!  There are other phenomenon, cars shutting off, electronic interference, military & commercial radar picking up objects, and of course actual abduction victims who have went through hypnosis, lie detectors, and more to prove their cases.

And for another form of hypocrisy, he uses the fact that UFO sightings are lower amongst amateur astronomers because astronomers "Know what the hell we are looking at!!"
2 MINUTES LATER he says "well because we think because you have a badge or your a pilot or your whatever, and how better your testimony is than an average person - ITS ALL BAD BECAUSE WE ARE HUMAN"
Shortly after that statement, he goes on to explain how his expertise and testimony is better than an average person.

Again, there are plenty of fakes, I would never argue otherwise. But there are plenty of unexplainable sightings & experiences that have happened to many credible people.
To ignore, dismiss, and ridicule the phenomenon is ignorant whether your a Scientist or not.

If you actually look at the details of the case, your Dr.'s explanation of one cop driving on a windy road and spotting venus just seems illogical to me.

This idea assumes that because space is vast and full of worlds not to different than ours, there is a good chance that other life exists. And just as we predicted that we would find other planets it is predicted that we will eventually find other life.

That makes sense, but the problem is that we have only one example of life. If we had even two examples then we could assume that life is common in the universe. One data point tells you almost nothing. Since all living things we are aware of are actually the same one living thing and species are just variations of that first DNA life form, it is possible that life only happened once and this is it.

Good pic. If there is life out there, it got there from here, through a space program in our distant past, at a time that people were far more intelligent and capable than we are, because entropy hadn't had the chance to do such a big decline in their lives, yet, as it has in ours.
