Why was this done? just to burn peoples investment? I see no logical reasoning behind it..... I never got a notification.

You guys go silent for a year and then randomly announce (hidden inside a thread) that you are burning coins? Really? Why not have them redeemable by signing with legacy address? Thats BULLSHIT

Please read: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=804288.msg17899848#msg17899848 for the why.
We have been announcing through many channels, Bittrex , Bitcointalk, Whitecoin.info, Twitter, Slack, IRC, old newsletter signups on the website, swap mailing lists etc.

a complete log can be found on Github and on this page: https://rawgit.com/whitecoin-org/coin-swap-information/master/index.html

So the 1 year silent time doesn't really apply here

What % of coins were swapped? Kind of sucks Really sucks having your investment(ish, as the devs were quiet for a year || coin forgotten about on that harddrive) burned while your out at college focusing on studies.

Why not have a swapping feature kept in XWC wallet or something? It wouldnt be hard to do at all

Around 80% got swapped (248000000 is the current supply after the destroyed coins, and 65000000 got destroyed), a lot of coins were lost during the Mintpal and Cryptsy scandal (although less than i expected). As stated in the post i have linked. We were facing a delisting from Bittrex as the blockchain became unstable. and at that point we would not have been on any exchange anymore.

Totally agree... Some dude said he had 500k coins, I had around 100k, I am sure lots of people had such amounts and missed the swap. Seems very nasty. It's ok though, I don't see it going anywhere anyway.

I had 1.5 mill coins. You guys are crooks. Just because I was absent for 5 months doesn't mean you have the right to destroy my property. Just look here https://www.richlist.eu/whitecoin/ , and you will see the future of this coin.  Huh

I just dont see why they dont have funds set aside for further exchanges. Almost like the dev wants the # in circulation to go down so he can cash out

Edit: no notifications on reddit, facebook, instagram...almost like they wanted it quiet

I understand you're frustration, i really do and feel sorry for the people who missed the swap. But in the beginning of this year we have made the announcement that a swap was comming up. After we made the announcement the blockchain became unstable by the old coin age and few stakers. So we got forced to speed this process up.
If we did not act we would have been de-listed, and like many other coins it would have died.

Now with your post i feel you are making it personal and create false accusations,:
Quote
"Almost like the dev wants the # in circulation to go down so he can cash out"

Why would i step out after 3 years, if i would have want to step out i would already have done that in 2014 or something. Or with selling those 65M coins that were left from the swapping period. cmon man.. are you seriously trying to make false accusations here ?
I made a promise in 2014, that as long as there is a community i will develop for Whitecoin, why would i bail out after 3 years ? and especially after a swap that costed us a lot of personal money.

Second of all, People would have questions if we still haved 65217841 XWC in our wallet that was ment for the swap. How do you feel if a developer has the coins for another 6 months ? 12 months ? 18 months?
i promised to destroy the coins once the swap was done and so i did.

Doesn't help much if you are deployed and your hard drive is in storage. How would you like it if you go overseas and your bank account is cleaned out when you get back?

Here in Finland company called Sampo: https://www.bloomberg.com/quote/SAMPO:FH inform share holders, that everyone have to change share certificates to digital ASAP or they will lose theys shares certificates. Basictly Sampo paper certificate is worthless today, if you didn't change it to digital. If I remember right Sampo give four month to ppl to "swap" paper certificate to digital and those certificate what ppl didin't change Sampo keep it by self. So, Sampo got 260Mil € extra, because ppl didin't change they Sampo certificate from paper to digital and that how real life works with "swap".

On Whitecoin swap those coins what was not swapped got burned and destryed, but real life certifications in big corporates can have not swapped certificates, like they owned those. Like in case Sampo. If Whitecoin XWC work's like real corporation and keep unburned coins by it self... Huh, what you folk's start to write in these forums. I can only imagine.

Simple: watch your certifications and coins, that you cannot miss next certificate, coin swap in the future and keep your hardware in good shape and wallet.dat in many places before accident happend again.

Yeah, it doesn't help and I'm sure everyone empathises and understands that it does indeed suck for you to have missed out primarily due to circumstances out of your control.

This is probably no solace but using your example of bank account cleaned out, In XWC's situation it would have been the equivalent of you coming back and finding out the whole banking system had collapsed and everybody had nothing.

That is what would have happened, as explained by Oizopower a few posts ago, there would basically have been no XWC if it had not happened.

Fortunately the great majority of coins did get swapped, unfortunately a minority did miss out.

Get set up at alcurex and buy a chunk of whitecoin for long term storage. Later u will blame urself that u took advice from me, a guy that talks only to his own pockets and uses manipulation to his own advantage. Im surprised to see u here in this thread since we both know u have never been supportive of this coin.
