If the people who invented blue led lamp would be getting nobel prize!

What about the one who invented the currency of the future?

                                                                     Nobel for Satoshi!

Let the petition begin!

This would underestimate the potential of Bitcoin. Better is to award new innovations in the field of cryptocurrency by Satoshi Prize instead of Noble Prize.

I order to be eligible they need to know who the hell Satoshi is.That's one downside of anonymity.

To be fair, the blue LED is a very significant innovation.

The five Nobel Prizes are awarded for outstanding contributions in the fields of physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, literature, and work for peace. Bitcoin is not an outstanding contribution in any of those fields, and therefore Satoshi does not deserve a Nobel Prize.

Gandhi never received one either.
Henry Kissinger did though.

Agree with gavin on this one a far greater validation would be the world using bitcoin as the #1 means of transaction.

He was nominated 5 times though.

Henry Kissinger did though.
For the Paris Peace Accords. Which didn't actually accomplish much, but who's fault is that?

When the Nobel Prize Fund was created, there was no cryptocurrency yet. So it doesn't fall into any category of Nobel Prise awarding. If bitcoin serves the interests of Nobel Prize, the foundation should consider to add this category.

Yeah but first we have to find out his real identity. Probably a nobel prize that comes with 10 mil cash reward will make him change his mind?  Grin

There is zero reason to create a special category for cryptocurrency  ,its contribution to humanity is moot at best regardless of the the sentiments on this forum.

That would involve the group of people known as Satoshi coming out of hiding and claiming they did it ,which will never happen so unfortunately its a long shot

I haven't had a lot of respect for the Nobel prize since Al Gore got one for a stupid slide show. It can sometimes take decades for somebody to be recognized. The dude who cloned a frog had to wait fifty years, and then when they called him, he thought it was a joke. So let's not get too eager to petition the Nobel Prize people to recognize Satoshi Nakamoto.

The Nobel Peace Prize( the one that Al Gore won) had always been a joke. We've got warmongers , terrorist and mass murderers won that prize before. One guy even got one on the merit of not being George Fucking W. Bush for crying out loud!

The selection for the other Nobel prizes however are quite solid both the prize and the recipients deserves the respect they got.My only gripe is that they don't offer posthumous rewards( Rosalind Franklin deserves one IMO)

One day Bitcoin will receive its full credit. We may be a few years away from that yet, although.

Neither does 'Barry' Barack Obama.
