Dear All,

Since October 1, 2014, we have been upgrading our Support and Public Relations service to become a single point of contact.

Now we welcome you on our Forum and Blog. In the Blog, you will find all of the HitBTC’s news and will be able to leave your comments and share the information in the media. In addition, we have launched our own Forum for all the discussions and the live communication will be available afterwards.

We are looking forward to meeting you there!

Yours HitBTC

It is ofcourse understandable that concentrating all customer relations to one single point and also being in sole controll of that venue is much more convenient for hitbtc, but I believe this is a bad move.
Why?
Because talking in a "public" place you can not control gives a lot of weight of what you say there.
Generally I believe hitbtc is doing a good job at running their exchange but there have been issues and questions raised over time which should be adressed in public (e.g.: trading volume questions, several technical hic-ups, organisational questions). Sure, these and similar discussions have been had with any other exchange too, but in my eyes every business doing bitcoin related things which require the aquisition and ongoing justification of user trust (aka deposits) should expect to be subject to discussion right here (and on reddit...).

Being able to react to public user issues in one trusted place is a good thing.
Trying to evade this publicity will not work, but just spark hysteria and wild theories as soon as the most miniscule problem is experienced by any one user and posted here because bitcoiners are as nervous as a flock of henns on cocaine.

Any other views on this?

Obviously bad move.

However even up to now, they just suggested to lead us to contact their support desk individually and sometimes meaningless. So we need unofficial hitbtc thread here in bitcointalk to exchange experiences.

Bad move.
After the new facts (delays with FIAT deposits and withdrawals, ecc.) that worried me, I guess I'll use Kraken and Bitcoin.de to exchange my BTC and LTC to EUR.

I agree it is a bad move. Almost as bad as them requiring that weird letter from a bank teller.

Unfortunately most exchanges became a lot worse within the last year/this year =/

They ignore the asset of clients fiat and bitcoins. They think their own property and their internal issue is more important than clients asset. So they are trying to keep themselves apart from public.

Perhaps they want to control information for screening by their department Tongue
Of course finally it will be in vain.

A little update:

I just publicly asked hitbtc to return with an official thread at their own forum: https://forum.hitbtc.com/index.php?p=/discussion/8/please-come-back-to-bitcointalk-org
If you think this is a good idea, please speak out.

Quote
As it not only provides a truckload of credibility to face (potential) customers in "public", it is also is available if anything ever fails with your servers.

disclosure:
I wrote a little post about you leaving bitcointalk.org at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=818963.0 which resulted not only a few replies but also in personal messages from concerned users what is going on at hitbtc.

I think you are much better suited to answer these questions than I am...
So please reconsider your withdraewal from bitcointalk.org and return to where the community of your customers really is.

HerrAndreas.

Its obviously a bad move, but HITBtc will still regain its pace soon. Maybe they want to look more professional or are planning to make some money of their forum

I believe that hitbtc is here to stay, but (BUT!) when it comes to appearing professional openly conducted customer communication is key.
As the bitcoin (trading) community is pretty used to (technical) problems with 3rd party asset holders and handlers like exchanges, trust has to be earned new every day.

In public.

Hi HerrAndreas,
are you still using HitBtc? I think Kraken is most trustworthy.

Hi kitano,

atm I am on hold with hitbtc, because of bank account change on my side, but in general I think risk is best managed by diversification weighted by performance (asset handling speed and reliability, support response time & quality, legal structuring and last but not least having healthy business model).

Withdrawing from public discussion here on bitcointalk.org did put a dent in that performance record and does indeed affect the volume I consider to be worth trusting to hitbtc.com.

It's clear why they have moved off bitcointalk - so that when there are customer complaints and issues, they can simply delete the post and hope nobody notices.

I've posted again here (which they can't ignore or delete): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=857344.0
