Personally I pay taxes to avoid jail/fines/inconvenience.

I consider all the existing governments as lowly extortionists.

Is this not the reason citizens should be calling for governments to use a blockchain for spending?  Taxes are not an issue when they go towards proper expenses however spending has become out of control!

In my country, the police and prisons are funded from tax money.

The private companies had a crack at it, and they failed to make enough money from it, and withdraw...

So someone has to fund this part of the need from society or we would have had rapist and murderers running around killing people and our kids would not be safe.

So yes.. I would gladly pay my tax.. it's after all less painfull than being murdered or raped.  Sad

Agreed. The general public is too imbecilic to be trusted to do each and every job the government takes care of for us.

I, personally, support taxes as without taxes we would not have police, prisons, highways, emergency weather warning systems, utility infrastructure, food safety regulations, workplace safety regulations, house code standards, roadway laws, environmental protection standards, medical safety standards; the list goes on. I can guarantee you that if the world's governments did not exist, we would still be in a dark age. Hell, without governments we wouldn't have foreign affairs. All the work raising standards of living in third would countries that the United Nations does, and fighting unjust treatment of the worlds people's, would cease to happen.

Don't deal with me until I verify with Keybase.io.

No , you never agreed , but just think what would happen if u didnt have tax and law; it would be a jungle out there.
Idea for taxes is justified, financing public services with comunity money, but somewhere in the process good intention got lost.
Same thing goes for law and justice system, its there both to be used and abused, but theres little u can do about it.

I definitely agree with you. Governments have their plus and their minuses, but given basic human nature of the uninformed, government and taxes are a highly necessary evil.

Do I want to pay taxes? No. I have to because my government requires it and I will end up in jail if I don't.

Government pressure makes me ´agree´. If I do not pay they will come and get it.

I wish I was a big corporation, like google and be welcomed in a lot of countries to actively evade taxes and not being punished for it. I do no evil, google only claims so... Sad

The thing is, their is a fine line, between providing a necessary service and providing a service to create employment. Some countries stimulate their economy through state subsidized schemes, and this is on the tax payers account. {In my view, governments should create a open market through regulations to enable private companies to create job opportunities.  {We should not pay tax, to stimulate fake jobs}

They come under the most scrutiny, when they do not use the tax money for the MOST critical functions.

you do understand that the government isn't made out of a superior race of aliens.
its composed of the same general public you consider to be too imbecilic to do the job, its just that you agree to give one group of people a monopoly on violence.

So you'd propose that each individual build, provide and maintain the roads they need to use? The sewers they need to use? The schools for their children? The plows to keep snow off the roads? The powerlines to get electricity? Etc, etc, etc...

So naive.

People agree to pay taxes because they voted to pay taxes...if people don't want to pay taxes they should vote their government services away.

I think the main point is not paying taxes, but paying too much in taxes!
For example, Tax on your pay cheque, then tax when you buy something, then tax when you sell something!
Tax on top of tax, its just too much! Then there is the issue of miss management of tax money. Where should my tax dollars be spent?

i propose that we let companies that specialize in construction do these things and charge a fee on their use.
that way you have a market for the best roads and you vote directly with your wallet instead of being stuck with the useless roads governments build with no consideration for demand and price.
