As a taxpayer it means you are a legal citizen of that certain country and you are entitled to claim all your rights as a citizen, the expression to protect all your rights and enjoy your citizenship. For me i prefer to be a good taxpayer because i know it’s for the good of everyone and of the country, if there is no taxpayer then the country has no nowhere to go because there is no funds to use for all the projects, the life of the country relies much to citizen’s taxes, that’s how important our taxes is...

It is true that Taxes is assure us in that country, but the main reason we pay it to get the feedback. Best Public Services,uh. But, in fact many taxpayer screwed with Government Policy. Their trust just broked up because Corruption.

It's not like people "agree" to pay taxes. They are obliged to. Taxes are used for building and maintaining roads that we use everyday. Taxes are used for providing public transportation. And so much more.

There are two sides to it, the social aspect which you spoke of, it is human nature to want to help others but also at the same time we can be inherently selfish. Without taxes many would be left to struggle and many things we value ourselves would not exist or happen. The other side of it is that taxes for most people happen before they can do anything, income tax is taken automatically from their paycheck and it just becomes something you accept you cannot change.

Government is just lazy middle man in most cases. They don't build the roads or schools, they pay private companies to, but the government takes a cut.

It really depends on the jurisdiction you live in, circumstances do vary significantly.
Some places, government really works for the people by providing them with free good quality healthcare, free education, free public transport and so on using your tax money. Other places it is not the case so you will feel that it is not fair to pay anything although that jurisdiction may have instruments to track you and force you to pay.
Due to all of us not sharing same experience, we don't have enough cohesion elements to share same opinion on this thus denying us a chance for a unified strong action against all governments.

It is stated in the law however it depends on the country you are living in. It is part of the constitution, it is done in order to fill up all the necessary budget of the govenrment,like building infrastructures and more.
