kindly check the definition of the term "backed"
The budget we received to start this preliminary study obviously came from the "government" - hence, government-backed and it is not big. I don't know where your skepticism comes from since we're giving away all the coins. In fact, we encourage you to use it or give it away and not to exchange it for money. Let's be realistic. The Viacoin protocol on which this coin is based on is so immature in its current state. Mobile payments are far, far more advanced in its development. In our country, mobile telcos had launched "Smart Money" and "G-Cash" (Google it) on which both are much easier to use. The only problem with them is they require trusting a third party, being centralized and require huge amount of resources - while blockchain technology needs the resources its users provide to maintain and protect the integrity of the network. So far, Viacoin/Clearinghouse seems to be a better version of Bitcoin/Counterparty at this point in time. Our government wants to catch up with emerging technologies, hence, this study. Actually, if you just hold on to your free coins, it may reach 0.00006513 satoshis (based on BTC/PHP) some day.

I have never used Viacoin before. Does our Viacoin wallet need to be funded with Viacoins before we can receive our E-Pesos?
Are E-Pesos a Viacoin asset or something? Does the balance show up on the first wallet page once we have them in our wallets?

No, the Viacoin wallet does not need to be funded in order to receive. However, you need 0.005 Viacoins in order to send or exchange. Keep 0.01 Viacoins to make multiple transactions. Technically, e-Pesos are a Viacoin asset/token. Yes, the balance shows up.

Someone pointed me to this thread. And a post on this thread points to my thread.
But hey, we're all Filipinos, (and some expats) so whatever works, then good. So I'm supposed to get, hmmm, 133k of your version of epeso if I ask for it? Ok.

Pards, kung may kilala kang mga Saudi Pinoy expat community para mabigyan ng libreng coins, malaking tulong yan. At the moment, we're in the discovery and awareness stage. 98% of Filipinos don't know about Bitcoin. More so, 99.9% of Filipino OFWs (Overseas Filipino Workers) also don't know, much less about altcoins - LOL. We initially distributed the coin here in this forum because I was told that most of the crypto developers hang out here. We welcome your most critical input. Thanks. Let me stress that your free coins are for sharing to other people.
