It's gotten even weirder now. For the price of a machine gun, why not own a machine gun factory? https://www.ghostgunner.net/

Why is no-one concentrating on the weight/dimensions of coin's to go to the jackpot machine's, and empty them of real coin's, is'nt this more profitable than pretending you can shoot people?
Aha, the penny drop's..

As always when guns are involved the discussion got a bit out of hand. 3D printed guns do become interesting however when you link them to a multisig smart contract. I do not know why people always think that hits technology will lead to ultimate government disruption. They just need to to adapt to this new technology. In fact they could even get better control of guns. For example they could place a jurisdictional ban on blueprints, but make them legal as longs as they comply with certain parameters, for example serial numbers. This would give the government oversight on how many legal guns are printed and outlaw any usage of a non-jurisdictional gun, similar to present times.

I don't think the government could make sure gun blueprints didn't leak online and people managed to print guns freely anyway. : / @Decksperiment emptying a casino with printed coins would be cool! xD But of course you'd go to jail if they caught you, or blacklist you if you started winning too much.

Personally, I dont think the gov would let gun blueprint's online unless they wanted them there.. And as for casino's, once you got your 'limit' before you get caught, you'd surely have made enough? Casino chip's.. piss easy to clone now huh? There's pobably 1 or 2 or even more printing coin's/chip's as we speak..

As for getting bullet's passed custom's, piss easy, 3d print the casing and bullet, then fill casing with gunpowder, and voila, undetectable bullet.. you think the bullet wont kill, but if this was a plane, yes, it can. The plastic projectile is in it's feild.. dont point it at target, point it at window.
Myth busted, TWICE. http://mythbustersresults.com/episode10http://mythbustersresults.com/episode38Why would you go to all the trouble to 3D print a gun, 3D print a single round of ammo, that won't even be effective, when you can 3D print a fucking bomb (in the shape of a common object) that will actually work? 3D printed bombs is a scary good idea

Im sure that you can make a gun with a 3-D printer. Maybe not with the ones commercially available, but people are damned smart. If there is a will there is a way. I dont agree with the a 3d gun because its use if for only one thing, to get by metal detectors, so I hope that detectors will be able figure that one out. Maybe they will be able to scan for gun powder. 3D printing is cool, It will drive costs down and help to bring items to market quicker. But, im sure as hell not in favor of a 3D printed gun.

I don't see what the big deal is. Why bother with a useless one-shot weapon when you can build a Sten submachine gun instead? For history, the Sten was invented in World War II when the British suddenly needed to produce a shitload of weapons in a very short period of time. With no time to train gunsmiths or retool factories, they designed a submachine gun that could be built by a machinist of average skill using ordinary tools. Meaning you could build one of these in your garage if you wanted to. Guess how many people do? Not that many, as it turns out.

3Dprinters for metal allready excist http://www.shapeways.com/materials/steelallthough I would think that the heat produced by the round would be to much for this method and..if you make them out of metal it might be more logical to use the old fashion way of metal forging

And there goes the anti-civil rights/self-defense "ghost gun" FUD, right out the window.
We will most certainly reserve our right to develop actual functional, reusable polymer guns though, to deal with governments preparing to democide or otherwise solely disarm non-aggressors, for our bloodshed.
