There is progress.  Adrianne is ... a woman, interested in Bitcoin ever since starting to cover it just over a year ago.    Morgan E. Peck is a science and tech writer and she just wrote the Bitcoin article in IEEE Spectrum:

There is a low barrier to entry for GLBSE making it even more valuable for those looking to raise funds for a business and have been frustrated with conventional methods -- a situation that many woman-owned businesses find themselves in.

I'd imagine females are pressured into not disclosing their sex. By my experience, anyone proclaiming to be a woman (assuming no additional relevant info, and not assuming the person claiming to be a woman is actually a woman) has a 40-80% chance of being a scammer. It's an immediate red flag, not because I hate women or think they're incompetent, but because I immediately associate cleavage with scams.

Mousepotato's the only female I'm aware of doing significant transactions on the forum and not scamming folks out of money. AFAIK, every lender is male, and every user who I've done business with is male.

Not only that, but any seen around here tend to get mobbed by geeks that need a life, leading topics off topic as a result, and getting in the way of business happenings and distracting from things getting done.

She: <accidentally indicates gender, somehow>
Forum: zomg a girl on the internets realz?
She: ... <tries to stay on topic>
Forum: <thread is now permanently damaged, no recovery possible>

Really it ought to be:

She: Hey, I have something for sale/I want to learn about something specific/etc etc
Forum: blah blah blah
She: <accidentally indicates gender, somehow>
Forum: <nothing happens. topic continues as normal>
NB: If it's a new or unknown user, a heightened sense of security awareness is appropriate, as usual. No need to yell scammer, but ask questions that scammers don't like you asking them: Will you escrow, will you send first, etc.

I don't know where I have seen this before but some studied I have seen shows that women are in general risk averse in investing, driving, etc, then males and if the theory extrapolates into the tech field they tend to get involved way past the early adopter phase of an industry or product.

Correct. Evolutionary, this is because men who went hunting had to be the risk takers. Also, men are more expendable than women for having offspring. Important is also that they could not afford to be "radical" because they could not risk being outcasts as they needed to raise children.

Same thing is seen today, though I think there is also a large societal aspect. Typically, it’s women who seek approval and afraid to stand alone in something unproven while men are more likely to not give a shit about the opinions of others.

As a result, the group is more "streamlined" and uniform than men. There are fewer anomalies, for example extremely intelligent or extremely stupid ones.
